Yes. You are eligible to give Bank PO Exams.

Have a glance over the required eligibility criteria to give Bank PO Exams.

Academic Qualification :
-One should have completed Graduation with any of the stream from a recognized university.
-No percentage of marks required for the candidate. Just completion of Graduation makes the candidate to be eligible to give Bank PO Exams.

Age criteria :
-Candidates who are from General category should possess an age between 21-30 years.
-Relaxation is there in upper age limit upto 3 years for the candidates of OBC category.
-For the candidates of SC/ST category, relaxation is there in upper age limit upto 5 years.

From the previous academic year, IBPS (Institute of Banking Personnel Selection) is conducting Common Written Exam for the recruitment of PO positions for 19 public sector banks.

I suggest you to have good preparation for this exam and crack it.

Even your friend is also eligible to give this exam.

Let me answer both the questions for you starting with yours. Yes you are eligible for the Bank PO entrance exam. You have sufficient enough marks in graduation to apply for the Bank PO entrance exam.

The marks in 10th or 12th standard are irrelevant. Only the percentage in graduation is considered. You should apply for the IBPS Bank PO. It won't be possible for you to apply for it in this year.

You will have to wait till next year to apply for it. IBPS stands for Institute of Banking Personnel Services. It is responsible for conducting Bank PO entrance exam for 20 Public Sector Banks in the country.

The next IBPS Bank PO will be conducted some time around same period next year. You will have to wait for the official notification by the IBPS which is released in PDF format on their official website - www.ibps.in

IBPS Bank PO Eligibility

1. You can apply only if have Indian nationality.

2. Minimum of graduation degree is required.

3. Must have passed graduation with 60 percent or more marks.

4. There is 5 percent relaxation for SC/ST.

5. No relaxation is given for OBC.

6. You should also have diploma/degree in Computers.

7. Otherwise Computer Science or IT subject should have been studied in 12th/graduation.

8. A certificate in Computer operating skills will also be accepted.

9. Age limit is 20 years to 28 years.

10. Age limit for OBC is 20 years to 31 years.

11. While for SC/ST the age limit is 20 to 33 years.

12. 38 years is the upper age limit for person with disability.

Clearly your friend is not eligible for the IBPS Bank PO. He has got 53 percent marks in graduation which is 7% less than required for the Bank PO entrance exam.

He can try to appear for the SBI Bank PO. This exam has been concluded for the year and would only take place next year. He is currently eligible for the SBI Bank PO, but if the bank decided to implement the recommendation of government in the next exam then he won't be eligible. In such case he can apply for the Clerical exam.

SBI Bank PO

1. You will have to pass graduation from recognized college.

2. There is no marks criteria.

3. Must have Computer Operating Skills.

4. Age limit is 21 to 30 years.

5. There is 3 years relaxation for OBC.

6. And 5 years for SC/ST.
