Hi

First of all a brief introduction on what is GATE. Its an Entrance which is conducted by the IIT's every year. Students give this exam because they want to get selected and get admissions in the M.Tech courses in the IIT's, NIT's and other goo technical colleges across the country. So you can also take it up. GATE stands for Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering.

There is no age nor attempt limits for this exam however the Basic Eligibility Criteria to apply for the GATE exam is that you should be a minimum graduate in BE/B.Tech/B.Arch/B.Pharmacy from a recognized college or university. Also final year appearing students can apply for this, but not the pre final year students.

Since you have not mentioned which subject or stream are you pursuing your B.Tech in, I am unable to provide you with exact and accurate study materials as there are many different streams of Engineering and you could be studying any of them. What you can do is firstly take up a GATE Coaching. That would provide you a good guidance for the exam regarding the pattern of paper, chapters, concepts, time management, etc.

Secondly you can buy Online GATE Books, that would help you in your self study if in case you do not want to take up any coaching. So you can buy the books all in one in which you can get every course material, notes and practice questions for the GATE Exam. Click Here for Online Book Store.

Lastly what you can do is, practice GATE Last Years Question papers, sample papers, etc. This way you can get used to the examination environment, make a habit of sitting for 3 hours at a stretch without braking your concentration and focus. These small things really matter in ones selection. I would say GATE is all about Engineering concepts and thus you have to be crystal clear with them..
