Government Jobs in Ministry of New & Renewable Energy
Ministry of New & Renewable Energy is a ministry working under the government of India and the ministry came into existence in the year 1992 in the name of Ministry of non-conventional energy sources. The ministry got its current name in the year 2006 and it is responsible for intellectual property protection, research and development, coordination, promotion, cooperation of inrenewable energy sources like solar power, biogas, small hydro and wind power. The ministry has set up four specialized centres on these inrenewable energy sources and the details of the same are given below:
Specialized centres established by the ministry of new and renewable energy:
• Solar Energy Centre: This centre came into existence in the year 1982 and it is dedicated unit of this ministry for the promotion of applications of solar energy and development of solar energy through product development.
• Center for Wind Energy Technology: This autonomous organization shortly called as C-WET works under the control of the ministry with the objective of serving as the technical focal point for wind power development
• Sardar Swaran Singh National Institute of Renewable Energy: This organization shortly called as SSS-NIRE is operating from the state of Punjab and it acts as the technical focal point for development of bioenergy inclusive of synthetic fuels and biofuels
• Alternate Hydro Energy Centre: This centre came into existence in the Indian Institute of Technology located in Roorkee in the year 1982 with the sponsorship offered by the ministry. This was established with the objective of promotion of power generation through the development of small hydropower projects in different areas in concurrence with the other renewable energy sources like wind, solar, biomass, etc…
