Question Pattern of IIT JAM
The aspirants who opt for Biotechnology and Computer Applications will have a separate pattern for the exam whereas for all other specializations the aspirants will have the same pattern for the exam.
The aspirants for Biotechnology and Computer Applications will have an exam with questions of objective type with multiple choices. The answers have to be marked in an Objective Response Sheet (ORS). The method of marking will be by shading the corresponding bubbles with an HB pencil.
For all other branches there will be both objective as well as subjective type questions. For them a ‘question cum answer booklet’ will be provided. The answers have to be written in the corresponding space provided. No supplementary answer sheets will be provided. 30% of the total marks will be for objective questions and 70% of the total marks are for the subjective part.
For objective exam, there will be four choices given for each question and out of that one will be the correct answer. For wrong answers there will be a penalty of 1/3 of the mark assigned for that particular question.
