Chandra Shekhar Azad University of Agriculture & Technology located in the city of Kanpur is approved as one of the best institutions for research and education in the field of agriculture in India. The formation of this university dates back to 1893, when a small school was established with the objective of offering training to revenue officers, which achieved the status of a Government Agriculture College in the year 1906. Then, in the year 1969, the college was developed as Uttar Pradesh Institute of Agricultural Sciences and finally in the year 1975 as Chadra Shekhar Azad University of Agriculture & Technology.
The university was established by merging two of its constituent colleges namely the Uttar Pradesh College of Veterinary Science & Animal Husbandry located in the city of Mathura and Government Agriculture College in the city of Kanpur. The Chandra Shekhar Azad University of Agriculture & Technology is presently offering education in the faculties of home science, agriculture and agricultural engineering & Technology.
