The history of Jamia Hamdard began when it was established as a small Unani Clinic in the year 1906. The clinic was established by the Hakeem Hafiz Abdul Majeed, who was a popular practitioner of Unani System of Medicine of his time. Even though, its journey began in the year 1906, it was actually awarded the status of Deemed to be university on the 1st of August 1989. The university was created as a seat of higher learning in Unani medicine, nursing, pharmacy, biosciences, Islamic Studies and other areas of knowledge by its founder as a means of fulfillment of the objective of Wakf. Over the last decade, the university has grown as an outstanding institution of higher learning with focused and distinct educational programmes.

The world has transformed so much that anyone who doesn’t have a basic knowledge of the technical knowhow is practically considered alien. The foundation stone for the establishment of Tirhut College of Agriculture was laid by the first chief minister of the state of Bihar Late Dr. Srikrishna Singh on the 18th of August 1960. The college is located at a distance of about 25 kms from the city of Muzaffarpur on the Muzaffarpur-Pusa Road. The college acts as a constituent unit of the Rajendra Agricultural University located in Pusa.
Sri Kandhan College of Arts & Science is a co-education institution affiliated to the Periyar University and the college is promoted by the Sri Kandhan Educational Trust at Bhavani. The college was established with the objective of imparting higher education to urban and rural youth in and around the districts of Salem, Erode and Namakkal.
