Ambedkar Nagar District is located in the Faizabad Division of the state of Uttar Pradesh and the district was established in the year 1995, by the then Chief Minister of the state of Uttar Pradesh Ms. Mayawati. The district was named after one of the most contributing personalities in the Indian legislation Dr. Bhimrao Ambedkar. The district is spread over an area of 2520km2. Nearly 90% of the population of the district lives in small farming villages and the district has nearly 4000 villages. The district has nine blocke namely Tanda, Ramnager, Katehari, Jalalpur, Jahagirgani, Bhiyam, Bhiti, Baskhari and Akbarpur.
