High Court of Haryana and Punjab was established in the year 1966 under the jurisdiction of Punjab, Harayan and Chandigarh. The court is authorized by Constitution of India. The decisions of the counrt are appealed to Supreme Court of India. The strength of this court is 68 judges in which there is one Chief Justice, 36 Permanent Judges and 31 Additional Judges. Mr. Mukul Mudgal is the current Chief Justice of the court. He was appointed on December 2009 and he is to retire on January 3, 2011. Tata Institute of Social Sciences was founded as a premier social science institute which was established in the year 1936. The institute was founded by Sir Dorabji Tata Graduate School of Social Work. It was the first school of social work in the country. The university was given the title of a Deemed university by the University Grants Commission of India in the year 1964. Initially the institute was established as Sir Dorabji Tata Graduate School of Social work but later it was renamed as the Tata Institute of Social Sciences.
