Tata Institute of Social Sciences was founded as a premier social science institute which was established in the year 1936. The institute was founded by Sir Dorabji Tata Graduate School of Social Work. It was the first school of social work in the country. The university was given the title of a Deemed university by the University Grants Commission of India in the year 1964. Initially the institute was established as Sir Dorabji Tata Graduate School of Social work but later it was renamed as the Tata Institute of Social Sciences. The institute was recognized as a deemed university in the year 1964.

Job Profile:

Tata Institute of Social Sciences is inviting applications from eligible Indian Nationals for making recruitment on the following faculty positions of Professor, Asoociate Professor and Assistant Professor. This is a special recruitment drive in which all vacancies are to be filled by SC/ST/OBC candidates only. The vacancies are available in the disciplines of School of Management and Labour Studies, School of Rural Development, School of Habitat Studies, School of Social Work etc in Mumbai Campus.

1. Recruitment of Professor:
Posts Available: Only 2 posts are available.
Educational Qualification: Candidates must be an eminent scholar with Ph.D. degree in the concerned discipline from a recognized institute or university. A minimum of 10 years of teaching experience in university or college is required for the post.
Pay Scale: Rs. 37400-67000 with a Grade Pay of Rs. 10000.

2. Recruitment of Associate Professor:
Posts Available: Only 5 posts are available.
Educational Qualification: Candidates must have done Ph.D. degree in the concerned discipline from a recognized institute or university with a good academic record throughout. Candidates must have passed Master’s degree with minimum 55% marks in aggregate. A minimum of 8 years of teaching experience in university or college is required for the post.
Pay Scale: Rs. 37400-67000 with a Grade Pay of Rs. 9000.

3. Recruitment of Assistant Professor:
Posts Available: Only 3 posts are available.
Educational Qualification: Candidates must have done Master’s degree in the concerned discipline from a recognized institute or university with a good academic record. Candidates should have secured atleast 55% marks in aggregate. Besides this, candidates must also have cleared the National Eligibility Test conducted by the UGC, CSIR.
Pay Scale: Rs. 15600-39100 with a Grade Pay of Rs. 6000.

Selection Process:

Selection process for all the specified positions is comprises of a Interview Test only. The Interview test will be taken by a selection committee. Selection of candidates will be made depending on their performances in the interview test.
