National Institute of Open Schooling was formed on November 3, 1989. The institute is actually a Government Board of School Education with its headquarter located at Noida, Uttar Pradesh. The institute is the Board of education for open school in India. The institute was established by the Ministry of Human Resource Development, Government of India. The main aim of the institute is to provide education facilities to the remote areas of the country. The institute is quite similar to CBSE and CISCE, as it also administers examinations for Seondary and Senior Secondary examinations of open schools. Karnatak University has a rural campus spreaded in an area of 750 acres located at Dharwad. The university is affiliated to University Grants Commission. The university was established in the year 1949 but its has its official inauguration in the year 1950 only. initially, the university was established at Mumbai. The university is considered as the second oldest university present in the satte of Karnataka, after University of Mysore. Dr. H. B. Walikar is the present Vice Chancellor of the university.
