Earlier started as a single institute for the studies involved with the field of engineering only, Shobhit Institute of Engineering and Technology, Meerut has grown out to acquire a status of a deemed university by the ministry of HRD by the government of India. This accreditation was done by the UGC in the month of November 2006. Under this jurisdiction by the UGC and the Central Government of India, the Shobhit University has the right to confer degrees in the thus established departments to the scheduled students.

The university boasts a very advanced and fully developed campus situated in Meerut on the Delhi- Meerut- Dehradun highway marked as the NH- 58 on the Indian map. The campus besides being quite advanced is well compact with all the basic amenities well within the reach. The campus holds its own WiFi setup for wireless internet access having enough strength for ease of surfing. Besides this, the computer labs systems have their own set of wired internet connections for fast and uninterrupted access. The campus of the university is well maintained and big enough to house different departments and all the research and teaching jobs of the university.

The university has grown out from mere engineering and technology field to now include various schools owning different teaching aspects like Basic and applied sciences, engineering (major streams), business studies, agro- informatics, biomedical engineering and bio- informatics, pharmaceutical science, media, professional development. The university also includes a center for distance education spreading the knowledge beyond the physical presence.

The admission to the university is done via filling out the admission form the university releases i.e. common for all the courses offered. The form can be requested by post or is made available online. The eligibility of the courses is indicated as per the course and also the barrier for age.

As per the university is concerned, it is accredited with an A++ grade and is ranked 9th among all the universities established after 2000. Moreover, the university is proactive to have national and international associations with universities in Germany, United Kingdom, and Australia etc.

The university holds a bank of facilities like library, auditoriums, lecture halls, research centers etc concerning with every requirement and needs.
