The New College is a pioneer autonomous institution founded in 1951. The college was established by Muslim Educational Association for Southern India (MEASI). This institute operates in day shift and evening shift having more than 2000 students on roll.

Even though the college was founded to impart higher education to Muslim students, the candidates from other religions are also treated at par in this premise. MEASI also manages a school, an Information Technology college, a management institute and an architectural college.

The college library is very vast having an overwhelming collection of over 84,000 volumes of books. The institute also helps needy and poor students by giving books free of cost using book bank facility. Hostel facility is provided by the management within the campus.
