Second optional subject for IAS preliminary and mains? First choice is Geography.
my first choice is geogrphy then which subject i should choose as second optional for IAS prelims and mains exam

The optionals should be chosen based on your interest and knowledge.... chose the one in which you are good at. so, that passing % will be more... ALL THE BEST.

You dont have to choose any optional paper for prelims exam in UPSC CSE 2011 and after according to the new pattern of the examination.
For mains exam you will have to choose two subjects. Since you have decided to choose Geography as 1st optional subject for mains exam, you should select that subject which is more comfortable and easier to understand according to you and in which you have interest. Make decision wisely. Good Luck. |

you can take sociology,political science(or)public administration if you have interest in them . you can take literature subjects also as your optionals. all you need is you should have interest in the subject

i have done B.A with subject political science and english literature,so it is naccesary to take subject as according to ur graduation ,or we can choose other subject like history for IAS main exam.

Choose whatever you like.
If you are good in literature then choose literature, you can choose history or economics or sociology or philosophy etc... Be careful in choosing the subjects. Be confident and comfortable what you choose. The list of the optional subjects are: Agriculture, Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Science, Botany, Chemistry, Civil Engineering, Commerce and Accountancy, Economics, Electrical Engineering, Geography, Geology, History, Law, Management, Mathematics, Mechanical Engineering, Medical Science, Philosophy, Physics, Political Science and International Relations, Psychology, Public Administration, Sociology, Statistics, Zoology.
