The age limit for for all the above post as on 01.07.2012 should be as follows.
For SC/ SC (Arunthathiyars), ST and Destitute widows of all castes the age should be between 18 to 35 years.
For MBCs/ DCs, BCs and BCMs the age should be between 18 to 32 years
For all other the age should be between 18 to 30 years
For the post of Surveyor and Draftsman, the persons who are trained in Survey in ITI in Tamil Nadu, the age limit for them should be between 18 to 35 years
No maximum age limit for candidates belongs to SCs, SC(A)s, STs, MBCs,/DCs, BCs, BCMs and Destitute Widows of all castes, who have acquired qualification higer than the General Educational Qualification.

Educational qualification: For all the above mentioned post, the candidates must have acquired minimum General Educational Qualification i.e they must have passed SSLC or its equivalent.

Technical qualification: Typist and Steno typist should have acquired the below said qualification to be eligible to apply for this post.
For Typist: The candidate must have passed the Govt. technical examination in Typewriting by Higher / Senior Grade in Tamil and Englisht (or) Higher / Senior Grade in Tamil and Lower / Junior Grade in English (or) Higher / Senior Grade in English and Lower / Junior Grade in Tamil are eligible to apply.
For Steno-Typist Grade III: The candidate should have passed Govt. Technical Examination in both Typewriting and Shortand by Higher / Senior Grade in Tamil and English (or) Higher / Senior Grade in Tamil and Lower / Juior Grade in English (or) Higher / Senior Grade in English and Lower / Junior Grade in Tamil are eligible to apply.

Note: Please note that candidates who have intermediate grade will be considered as Junior Grade only and will not be treated as Senior Grade.

Computer qualification for Typist and Steno-Typist Grade III: Candidates should have a Certificate Course in Computer on Office Automation by Technical Education Department are eligible to apply. Please note that the candidate who do not have this qualification can also apply but they should get that certification within their probation period.

The written exam for TNPSC Group IV Services 2012 will be of objective type multiple choice questions. The question paper will be set with two types. One type of question paper will have General Knowledge (100 questions) and General English (100 questions). The other type of paper will have General Knowledge (100 questions) and General Tamil (100 questions). The candidates can choose either General Tamil or General English. The General Knowledge questions will be set in both English and Tamil. The syllabus for the exam is General Knowledge, General Tamil or General English and this will be in SSLC standard. The time duration is for 3 hours and this paper carries 300 marks out of which the candidates have to get minimum of 90 marks to get selected.

Fees: For all the above post the candidates have to pay75 towards examination fees and50/- towards application fees. The candidates who are exempted from paying the examination fees have to pay50 for application fees. If you have already registered for one-time registration for TNPSC recruitments, and if you paid the registration fees of50 then you need not pay the registration fees for 5 years from the date of your registration. You can pay either through online with netbanking/credit/debit card or offline through post office or Indian Bank.

How to apply: Before you apply, keep your photo and signature scanned. Dully fill the online application form for TNPSC Group IV Services 2012 exam through the following site -

Select the name of the post. If you have already registered with one-time registration for TNPSC the you would have got unique ID and password. Enter that to view the already available information. If not fill all the details. If you wish to pay the fees online an additional page will be displayed wherein you need to make the payment and after successful transaction, you will get registration number and password. Keep this for future reference.

If you wish to pay through post office or Indian Bank, select the one and click submit button. You will get application number and password. Note it down. Now you will get system generated payment challan. Take this print out and go the nearest Indian Bank or designated Post office and pay the fees. Collect the fee payment receipt and keep it for future reference. Please note that you need to pay the fees within two working days from the date of registration of your application. Candidates can take the print out by entering the application number and password and keep it for future reference.

Eligibility criteria:

Candidate should be between 18 and 30 years of age as on July 1st 2009. Though there are certain services for which the lower and upper age limit may be different. There is no upper age limit for reserved categories. Educational Qualifications vary according to the service the candidate applies for and will be available with the admission notification. The candidate should also possess adequate knowledge of Tamil.

Availability of Application Forms:

OMR Application forms will be available at all Head Post Offices and Selected Sub-Post Offices in Tamil Nadu/Puducherry and also from TNPSC Office Sales Counter. Candidates can also apply online through the website www.tnpsc.gov.in.
