Yes, you are eligible to apply for IES being a B.Tech. Graduate in CSE(Computer Science Engineering).

IES - Indian Engineering Service, conducted by UPSC every year for appointment of young Engineers in the Top technical post under Central Govt.

The eligible candidate must be an Indian National having either appear for the final B.Tech. Degree exam or pass in any stream from a recognised University within the age of 21 to 30 years with upper age relaxation for reserved candidate.

The candidate of any stream can write IES but in any one of the subject branch such as:-

-Mechanical
-Civil
-Electrical
-Electronics & Telecommunication

Hence as a candidate from CSE stream you can apply for IES by choosing any one subject branch mentioned above.

Dear Friend

There is a general confusion among lots of engineering candidates that which branch of candidates are eligible for the Indian Engineering Services examinations conducted by the UPSC every year.

Let me clear you that any engineering candidate who has pursued his bachelor's degree in engineering /technology is eligible to apply for the IES exam irrespective of branch or stream .Your degree should be from a recognized university.

So being a computer science engineering candidate ,you are eligible to apply for the exam .

Note:But there is one restriction by the UPSC for the candidates of streams other

Civil engineeiring

Mechanical engineering

Electrical engineering

Electronics and Telecommunication engineering have to select subjects from these core branches of engineering.

Now discussing about age criteria:

The age limit for the IES exam is 21-30 years .Relaxations of three years to obc and five years to the sc/st respectively.

Information regarding no of attempts:

General : 4

OBC:7

SC/ST : no limit.

Examination:

For any other information regarding IES exam ,you may visit the official website of UPSC that is www.upsc.gov.in

Hope the information helps you as well as satisfy you .If you have any other query then you can leave your message .
