Sir I'm a b-tech final year student. I want to join in indian army. My height is 164cm. Am I eligible?

CDS - Combined Defence Service conducted by UPSC twice every year as CDS-I and CDS-II for a entry in to Indian Military Academy, Naval Academy, Air Force Academy and Officer's Training Academy.

The eligible candidate aspiring to join Indian Army(IMA) of CDS, must be an unmarried Indian Male having either appear for the final Graduation Degree exam or pass in any stream from a recognised University within the age of 19 to 24 years with good Physical and Mental health.

CDS stands COMBINED DEFENCE SERVICECDS examination is conducted by the UPSC twice in a year. This exam is conducted for the selection of candidate as an officer in Air force, Army and Navy.

Indian Military Academy:- You need to be a graduate in any discipline from a recognized university.Your age should be between 19 and 24 years.

Air Force Academy:- You need to have a bachelor's degree in science with physics or mathematics or you can do B.E./B.Tech in engineering or technology.Your age should be between 19 and 23 years.

To join the Indian Army you can sit for the CDS examination. Since you are a B.Tech student in the final year therefore now you are eligible to sit for this exam. Here is the complete details of the exam below:-

CDS stands for Combined Defense Service Examination. This examination is conducted by the Union Public Service Commission. You can enter the following academy by giving this exam:-

1. Indian Military Academy
2. Indian Naval Academy
3. Air Force Academy
4. Officers Training Academy

Notification of Examination is generally released in the month of August and March and the exams takes place in the month of February and August respectively.

Educational Qualification:-

For I.M.A. and Officers’ Training Academy: You need a degree in any discipline of your choice from a recognized university.

For Indian Naval Academy: A degree in engineering is required or you can do graduation with physics and mathematics.

For Air Force Academy: Either you can get a degree from a recognized university with Physics and Mathematics or you can pursue B.Tech in any stream of your choice.

If you are in the final year then also you can give this examination.

Age Limit:-

Indian Military Academy: 19-24 Years
Naval Academy: 19-22 Years
Air Force Academy: 19-23 Years
Officers’ Training Academy: 19-25 Years

Physical Criteria:-

The height and weight varies with age. Since you want to join the Indian Army therefore here i am providing that full list for your convenience.



To keep yourself fit you can do the following things:-

• Running : 2 to 4 Km. in 15 minutes.
• Skipping.
• Pushups & Sit-ups : Minimum 20 each.
• Chin ups : Minimum 08.
• Rope Climbing : 3 to 4 meters.

Indian Army can be joined broadly through NDA(National Defence Academy) and through
CDS(Combined Defence Service)
entrance exam conducted by UPSC
twice every year after Graduation.
Through NDA it only requires passed +2 and age between 16.5-19 yrs
and for graduates CDS is preferred because age group is increased..
so youmust be an unmarried Indian Male having either appear for Graduation Degree exam or pass in any stream from a recognised University within the age of 19 to 24 yearswith good Physical Fitness.

Sorry to say that you are not eligible to join in indian army after completing B.tech final year because you have crossed the age limit to apply for the NDA Eexam.
Indian Army Eligibility Details:

a) Nationality:
You must be a citizen of India.

b) Age Limit:
You must not be below 16½ years and above 19½ years on the first day of the month in which the course is commencing i.e. the candidate should not be born before 01 Jul 1994 and not after 01 Jul 1997 .

c) Educational Qualification:
You should have passed 10+2 Examination or its equivalent with a minimum aggregate of 70% marks in Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics from a recognized education boards are eligible to apply for NDA exam.

d)You must be an unmarried male candidate.

Eligibility for Indian Army

1. Applicant’s Nationality – Applicant should be verified and known Indian.

2.Age Limitation – Applicants are eligible for Indian Army if having Age between 19 minimum and 25 maximum years. And there is relaxation against SC/ST by Indian Govt

3. Educational Qualification – Applicants must complete Graduation with 50% from reputed university of India and must have ‘B’ in ‘C’ certificate examination in NCC.

4. Men should be minimum 157.5 cm equivalent to weight and women should be 142 cm and 42 weight.

5. Physical fitness standards - Applicants should keep regular exercises in case of gets rid of any physical injury. And Indian Army will also include following physical training –

Hello friend as you belongs to btech final year complete it first then you becomes eligible for the exam called as CDS stands COMBINED DEFENCE SERVICE (CDS) examination is conducted by the UPSC twice in a year. This exam is conducted for the selection of candidate as an officer in Air force, Army and Navy.

As you have 164 cms then you are eligible but you must also have weight above 55 kgs.

Yes ,why not ,after completion of your bachelor's degree in technology you can go for the Combined defense exams which is conducted twice every year by the UPSC .

If you clear the both stages that is written test and service selection board ,you will eligible to join the Indian Army.
