Re: Am I eligible for MCA by not having Mathematics at Higher Secondary Level but having Computer Science at Degree Level?
You just mentioned that you have not gone through Mathematics as one of the subject at Higher Secondary Level.
But you did not mention whether you have gone through Mathematics as one of the subject at your Graduation level. In order to be eligible for MCA course,it is must that the candidate should have gone through Mathematics as one of the subject at Higher Secondary Level or Graduation level. Having gone through Computer Science at degree level may not be an added advantage for you to get admission for MCA course. So,if you have not gone through Mathematics as one of the subject at Degree level, I am sorry that you are not eligible for MCA course. I think there are some institutions which will give direct admission for MCA course.Try to find those colleges and try to get admission. |

Quote:
If you have completed 12 th with math paper or in graduation you have completed 300 marks in mathematics then you are eligible. But your 12 th subject is not mathematics so you are not eligible for MCA degree. Also your you have completed some degree level course in computer science . If you graduation degree is related to computer science course then you are eligible for MCA course otherwise not. Your graduation institute must be UGC approved . All the best |

Re: Am I eligible for MCA by not having Mathematics at Higher Secondary Level but having Computer Science at Degree Level?
dear friend,
Eligibility criteria for MCA course:- *The candidate must have maths or stats in 12th or graduation level.. As you have mentioned that you don't have maths in 12th , and you have done your graduation in computer science then I think you are not eligible for MCA course from recognized university in a regular manner... But you can go for the MCA course in distance mode in some private institutes... Where no such criteria is mentioned.. So, go for that .. All the best.. |

Re: Am I eligible for MCA by not having Mathematics at Higher Secondary Level but having Computer Science at Degree Level?
The Master of Computer Application (MCA) is a postgraduate course that a candidate can choose to pursue if they have an interest in computer application.
Sorry, you cannot apply for MCA without pursuing mathematics in 10+2 according to the eligibility criteria. If you satisfy the following eligibility criteria, you can apply for MCA : 1. You must have completed their BCA, BBA or B.Tech to apply for MCA course. 2. If you have finished their graduation in science can also apply. 3. You must have pursued mathematics as one of the subject in 10+2. 4. There is no any type of age limitation for MCA. * For more details, visit www.mca.gov.in > Hope for your good future scope. |

Re: Am I eligible for MCA by not having Mathematics at Higher Secondary Level but having Computer Science at Degree Level?
There is not much difference in the job profiles of the candidates from this background. The difference is in the training provided in these courses. A bachelor in Engineering is more related to developing new technologies and applications. B.Tech candidates on the other hand are required to learn to use these applications. MCA on the other hand provides more of theoretical knowledge. Both BE/B.Tech are considered equivalent. But MCA is not considered equivalent to these two courses. There is a difference in pay scale and the grades in the organisation. If you have an option it will be better if you pursue the B.E or B.Tech course.
