There is no marks criteria for the Civil Services Examination. What this means is that as long as you have completed graduation, it does not matter how much marks you scored, it is possible to apply for the Civil Services Examination.

Which means you are eligible for the Indian Administrative Service. You can apply for the examination next year in 2014. This year it would not be possible to apply at this stage.

The examination is conducted by the Union Public Service Commission. Apart from IAS Civil Services Examination is also conducted for Indian Police Service and Indian Forest Service.

You better start the preparations for the exam as soon as you can to have any realistic chance of clearing it. By no means Civil Services Examination would be piece of cake. It takes a lot of hard work to clear the Civil Services Examination.

IAS Eligibility

1. Nationality: You should have Indian citizenship to apply.

2. Qualification: Any graduation degree would be good enough.

3. Marks: There is no criteria but ensure to clear backlogs before applying.

4. Age Limit: The candidate should be at least 21 years old to apply.

5. Age Limit: Upper age limit is set at 30 years.

6. Relaxation: 3 years in upper age limit for OBC.

7. Relaxation: 5 years in upper age limit for SC/ST.

8. Physical Requirements: There are none. Physical requirements are for IPS.

Selection Procedure

1. Preliminary Exam - May/June - 2 Written Tests.

2. Main Exam - Aug/Sep - 9 Written Tests.

3. Personal Interview

A Graduation degree is sufficient to make you eligible for IAS examination. It doesn't matter if you have got 50% marks or 40% you will be eligible if you have got your Degree.

So don't worry about your percentage in Graduation because the real thing that matters is performance in the exam conducted by the UPSC. It will decide whether you will become IAS officer or not.

So start your preparation in full throttle because the only hard working candidates get selected as an IAS officer.

Age Limit:

General Category: 21 to 30 years

OBC Category : 21 to 33 years

SC/ST Category : 21 to 35 years

Selection Procedure:

-Preliminary Exam

-Mains Exam

-Interview

Number of Attempts Allowed:

General : 4

OBC : 7

SC/ST : no limit

Hi,

Of course, you can apply for IAS exam after doing BE with 50% marks. IAS exams require graduation and there is no percentage criteria.

IAS exams are conducted every year by UPSC.

If you want to apply for this exams, there are only two important criteria for eligibility which are --

You should be a graduate in any discipline with any percentage, from a recognised university.

Your age should be in the age bracket of 21 years to 30 years, where upper age is relaxed for 3 years and 5 years for OBC category and SC/ ST category respectively.

Therefore, you can definitely apply for this exam.

You will have to clear the preliminary exam, also known as CSAT, which is the first and qualifying stage of IAS exam.

After Preliminary exam, Main exam has to be qualified. Main exam consists of 9 papers and is essay type. you will have to choose two subjects for main exam.

Finally an interview is conducted of qualified candidates.

Undoubtedly IAS exams are said to be the toughest exam in India. So, you should give your 100% to the preparation of this exam.

Yes you are eligible to sit for the IAS Examination. The marks is not a factor as far as IAS exam is concerned. You just need to be a graduate and since you have completed bachelor's in engineering therefore you need not worry about the eligibility criteria.

IAS is a civil service exam whose full form is Indian Administrative Service. This exam is conducted by the Union Public Service Commission. This exam is conducted by the Union Public Service Commission.

Eligibility Criteria:-
  • You have to be a citizen of India to give this exam.
  • You need a graduate degree in any discipline of your choice from a recognized university.
  • Final year students are also eligible to give this examination.
  • The lower age limit for giving this exam is 21 years and the upper age limit is 30 years.
There are three stages which one needs to cross to finally become an IAS officer and they are as follows:-
  • Phase I: CSAT (Civil Services Aptitude Test) in May or June
  • Phase II: Mains (Civil Services Mains) in Oct/Nov
  • Phase III: Personality test (interview) in Feb/Mar of the following year
Civil Services Aptitude Test (CSAT):-

CSAT is the preliminary examination which helps in shortlisting candidates for the next stage of selection. This year the CSAT exam took place on 26th May 2013. CSAT has got two papers:- General Studies and current affairs and General Aptitude. Since the difficulty level of this exam is quite high therefore a combined score (total score from both the papers) of about 50% will be more than enough.

IAS Mains:-

The IAS Mains have the following papers which needs to be given importance:-

PAPER-I: English Essay - 250 Marks

PAPER-II: General Studies- I: Indian Heritage and Culture, History and Geography of the World and Society-250 Marks

PAPER-III: General Studies- II: Governance, Constitution, Polity, Social Justice and International relations-250 Marks

PAPER-IV: General Studies-III: Technology, Economic Development, Bio diversity, Environment, Security and Disaster Management-250 marks

PAPER-V: General Studies- IV: Ethics, Integrity, and Aptitude-250 Marks

PAPER-VI : Optional Subject Papers I 250 Marks

PAPER VII: Optional Subject Papers II 250 Marks

Personality Test (Interview)- 275 Marks

Hope this helps :-> :->
