I had qualified AMIETE-ET in 2011. Can I appear in GATE 2016 exam. As per notification releases by iisc only AMIE qualified candidates are eligible.

Yes, you can apply for the GATE 2016 and i would also like to tell you that registrations are now ongoing online and fee of the Rs 1250. The exam GATE stands for Graduate Aptitude Entrance Exam and that is conducted for the admission in the post Graduation for technical stream.

eligibility for the GATE is-

>> Candidate to be the Graduate in any technical stream B.tech or AMIE and also the appearing candidates in the final year can also apply.

>> The qualified candidate after the GATE can take the admission in M.tech and also will get the scholarship of Rs. 12000 per month during the period of the M.tech degree.

Gate is graduate aptitude test for engineering. this exam is conducted by the IITs.

The basic eligibility criteria for this exam is to have a bachelor degree in engineering stream in any branch.That is you must have a B.E./B.tech degree as your bachelor degree.
Or

Master degree in science stream from a recognised university with good percentile.That is you must have a MSc degree as master degree to be eligible for this exam.
