sir i am 3rd student in mechanical branch..so how much mark required for admission in the Iit and nit in gate 2016 and i belongs to sc catagory???

Sir , it based on the percentile you got ) I.e, combination of btech % + gate marks ).
-> For getting seat in IIT/ NIT , one must secure rank below 300.
-> It depends on caste also
a) if you are a OC candidate you must secure rank below 100.
b) If you are BC category then you must Secure below 300.
c ) For SC/ST 's it is in between
740-1000.

You need to get at least 55+ marks out of 100 in GATE to get admission in " NIT " . And coming to IIT's you must have 60+ marks in GATE.

This may vary from year to year based on the competition and also there is a marks relaxation for the reserved candidates.

GATE application forms were started from 1st of September and deadline is 30th of September.
I want to tell that for taking admissions to IIT colleges according to previous cutoff marks and by considering mechanical branch you should have mminimum score 70 out of 100.
So you require very hard work from your present year.

If we go by previous year cut off marks for SC category then you must have a GATE score of above 300 to have chance of getting admission in a NIT/IIT.

Also, note that in some not so popular streams the cut off marks is very low. Hence, it will depend on the kind of stream in which you want admission in 2016.
