Re: A BAMS practitioner having enough knowledge about Allopathic medicine can prescribe allopathic medicines?
Please not that
# BAMS means Bachelor of Ayurvedic Medicine and Surgery. # MBBS means Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery. # Though both BAMS and MBBS are different disciplines. As BAMS deals with Ayurveda medicines and techniques while MBBS deals with Allopathic medicines and methods. # It is expected that an BAMS doctor can prescribed only ayurvedic medicines. On the other hand, an MBBS doctor (or allopathic doctor) can prescribed only allopathic medicines. # But in reality, an BAMS doctor is authorized to prescribed general/common allopathic medicines but not permitted to prescribed strong allopathic medicines. # Similarly an MBBS practitioner also permitted to prescribed only general/common medicines but not permitted complex ayurvedic substitutes. # It is worthwhile to mention here that an BAMS practitioner has to undergo six month (one senester) of study out of complete five and a half years study in allopathy compulsory. # Today, both BAMS doctor as well as MBBS doctor enjoys the same priviledges, salary packages, ranks, etc. |
