IAS Exam is Broken into two successive Examination:

Preliminay examination for selection of candidate for main exam.

Main examination after which successful candidates are selected for civil srevices.

Preliminary examination comprises of General studies, 2 hours test of

General Knowledge and another 2 hours test on an optional subject.

The optional subject are Agriculture,Animal husbandary, botany,

Chemistry, History, socialogy etc.


The Main examination consits of 9 papersand is designed to acess the

intellectual depth and trails of candidates.
