degree or in the final year of degree so that at the time of joining he/she can produce the results so, you can't appear civil services 2011. You can appear next year. Also, as you are a third year engineering student, I assume that your age would be less than 21 now. In that case you don't fulfill the age limit too. If you are serious about your future in civil services then I would suggest you to appear the exam only after a good preparation. A GEN category student is allowed only 4 times to appear civil services. So, one should not spoil the chances by appearing the exam without preparation. |

Re: Can a 3rd year computer science student write UPSC exam?
It is a must that the candidate should have completed his graduation at the time of appearing for the exam. The only relaxation is that final year students are allowed appear as by the time they complete complete their graduation the results for the civil service is also declared approximately the same time. Also there is a rule for the minimum age required of 21 years. Since you are in the third year you would not have crossed this age. But this gives you more time to prepare for the exam. You can start your preparations immediately.

Re: Can a 3rd year computer science student write UPSC exam?
UPSC conducts several exams and elligibility criteria differs with exam. some exams conducted by UPSC such as SCRA needs only 12th pass. so you can appear only in those exams which require inermediate degree. r u talking about civil services. since you have not completed your graduation , so legally you are not elligible to appear in civil services.however you can appear illegally by providing wrong details for getting experiance. remember you can appear only 4 times in this exam so it is useless to waste one chance.

Since you are in 3rd year now,You cant write IAS exam now.The eligibility is any graduate from any recognized university in which you have to produce the proof of passing out at the time of interview. So you can try next year and IAS exam is not as easy as you think,You have to be strong in general awareness and general studies.. You can attempt 4 times for gen category,So it will be good for you if you prepare well from now and write next year. All the best for your career.. |

Re: Can a 3rd year computer science student write UPSC exam?
Good friend,
Nice start to think about your career,But you age and Eligibility Criteria doesn't allow you to write UPSC exams. Because for CDSE Exam which comes under the UPSC, students who are applying for the same has be in final year of their graduation or must have passed the graduation level. But Not only the Educational Eligibility but parallelly you age should be in Limit means it should no be less than 21 and not be more than 23 in the case of CDSE. Yes if you are preparing for Civil services then the same criteria goes to this also. For appearing any UPSC exams, there are more limitations than any other Exams, because You need to Work for your Mother Land. For your precise answer you will Eligible for Any UPSC Exams after passing your 3rd year of Engineering i.e when you will come to 4th year and should full fill the AGE limits For various UPSC exams and Eligibility Criteria Click here Good luck. |

for appearing in UPSC civil service examination you must have at least graduation degree in any subject from a government recognized university.
so you will be able to appear in UPSC civil service examination after completion of your B.Tech not in third year. your age must be between 21 to 30 when you will appear in Civil service examination. for more information about the UPSC civil service examination visit the website of UPSC www.upsc.gov.in or www.civilservice.in. best wishes. |

Dear friend
UPSC is an institution which only conducts the examinations like NDA,IFS,SCRA etc. So it depends on the exam for which you are going to appear and not on UPSC. THERE IS NO ELIGIBILITY CRITERION FOR UPSC ALL THE BEST |
