Is it possible for civil engineers to get job in IT fields?

Yes friend, According to me IT sector is the only field where any graduates can go inside if you have good programming knowledge. But remember you must compete with CSE guys, BE(IT) students, B.sc computer science students and BCA students who all are made for programming and studying for programming only.

hi..there is an equal opportunity for an civil engineer to get an information technology job a it is for the computer or it engineer ,the multi national companies like tata consultancy limited and the infosys do not look at the branch from which an candidate has done his graduation rather they look at the over all capabilities of the candidate ad the desire of the candidate to learn the new technology and the concepts .
also these days every graduate does learn the basics of the programming languages during there graduations software like c language is an compulsory subject for all the graduate engineer irrespective of the college or the university in which they are studying.
also these companies give training to the candidates whether they are from an civil background or an software back ground ranging from three to one year and hence they can easily learn the various basics of the programming an software job .
also there are many institutes like the NIIT which give very good software education and an course from these institutes for six months would be enough to get you an software jobs because the certificate given by these institutes are highly valued in the software industry ,
all thing apart the most important thing that you should remember is that to get an software job its very easy during the campus placement of your college and if you are interested in joining the software field then any how you should gt an job in some or other software company during your graduation even if its an small company because after one or two years of experience you will be an as good software engineer as an person from computers back ground and then you can switch to the better companies because getting an software job after the completion of your graduation and coming our of the college is quite tough and you may have to struggle for few days and the precious time of your career may be wasted in just finding an job which could have been used to gain valuable experience and hence clearing your way for far better opportunities

Because , At IT field :
you will have :

1. Programming level Interface
2. Networking
3. Hardware

These all have no concerned with civil engineer.
It will be better if civil Engineers go towards :

- Constructions
- Transportation

Yes, My friend you can get a job in IT sector.. But It will be difficult for you to get a job in IT sector because That is totally different from your field.

Very few students only able to get a job in IT sector.

So, I will suggest you to go for any core sector job.

You can get huge job opportunity from core field.
As civil engineering is a core stream..

Now a days lots of new construction companies are produced in India, so you will get lots of opportunities..

Don't worry, just try to get a job in your own field which will help you to retain the job and also to achieve your goal.

do not worry for jobs. for civil engineers jobs are available at more numbers when compared to IT sectors. Civil engineers are not only needed in construction field they are in need in various sectors namely in power generation, water treatment and supplying plants,in manufacturing industries namely cement,bricks, etc .And also civil engineers are in environment management which is a necessary field due the pollution and other issues.

But if you want to join in IT sectors you can also join there is no restriction for it provided you have studied the software through some course. If you do not have software knowledge you have less chance of getting the job.
As construction field is in peak jobs available in that field itself is at good numbers and managing human resources is also a important task for the future civil engineers. As resources are limited civil engineers need to come up with new technology and make life better

Yes, it is possible for civil engineer to get job in IT, only if a person sit for Campus recruitment and get selected in some IT company.

otherwise, It is almost impossible , if you apply separately in different companies. They do not take people other than CS/IT with out campus recruitment.

So, try your best to be selected from campus. There are many jobs for civil engineers in the country,in fact it is more than IT sector , you can definitely go there and make High profile career.

My name is sandeep, i am BE-civil working from 5 years in construction industry in pune but now i just want to change my field because there is zero job satisfaction in site engineering job. Its like an harassment and totally nonstandard job, it is just like an supervisor job, no need of technical knowledge, no stability.

Actually it happens more than you think it does.
In most of the colleges and universities for keeping a 100% placement they tie up with some companies to do bulk recruitment which means they recruit a lot of students mostly the ones who have not been placed in any company.
The companies that do bulk recruitment are the companies from the IT sector.
