I'm from pondicherry.. Having 10th standard as my qualification. Age is 21. D.O.B is 06.06.1989. I want to join Indian army. Is it possible? Have i crossed the age limit? Also i heard that age is a flexible aspect for some regions? in this case Am i eligible? Thanks a lot in advance to all!!

sir,u may join army in this age there is no harm in this age... i would say this is a perfect age of ur to join it.. n yes u r eligible for it..its good to hear that there r people in india who want to join army inspect of becoming a coat accoutant or an m.b.a..all the best for ur future

no you cannot join indian army because minimum qualigication for joining army is 10+2.but your qualification is 10.so sorry and apply for another job.

Yes, when considered about your age limit you can join through NDA

exam but for NDA exam your education eligibility must be pass in your 12th std.

Yes my friend you can join the army but only after clearing the NDA exam and then giving various tests like medical test and physical test after which you will be assigned a department according to your talent.

1. You can apply for cds examination

For that you have to attain atleast a degree of a recognized university

Exam consists of

English – 2 hours-100 marks

General knowledge – 2 hours – 100 marks

Elementary mathematics – 2 hours – 100 marks

2. You can apply for afmc entrance examination
You have to pass 12th class examination

No, you are not eligible to apply because your qualifications are not upto the mark which are required to join Indian Army.
You should be atleast 12th pass to apply for it.
As you are not eligible height and weight are not issue for you.

after completion of 10th standard you will not be eligible to join in Indian Army.
As you have mentioned that you have reached 21 years of age , then you are not eligible for NDA exam..

It is too late for you to join in Indian Army..
Because you are now in 10th standard and to appear in any defense exams like- CDS exam, you have to complete the graduation first..
For completing your graduation it will take 5 more years..
And then your age will be above 26 years..
So, sorry to say you that you are not eligible..

you are not eligiable for NDA exam.

if you will a graduate holder, then also you can join in the India army at your age 22.

but you are also not eligible for the CDS exam too.

Your age is just perfect for the job but your qualification seems to be somewhat less and you gotta crack the NDA exam for getting into the Indian army.

dear u can join army with 10th base only for CRPF,BSF AND ETC. in army age group for 16.5 to 21 year for 12th PCM subject than u can give NDA exam but your age has cross.
here some oppotunity remain for you after join army as 10th base general selection exam and PET. every year army invited to indian people for that. so if you have a 155 Height, 50 kg weight and chest 77/82 with .after clear physical test a Multiple question exam taken than you after medical test you become officer.

it is difficult for u as ur qualification is 10 . Army requires 10+2 and specialy a maths background.

How To Join Indian Army

Yes,you can surely join the Indian Army at the age of 21 years.. by appearing for the CDS exam (Combined Defense Services Exam)

The "Combined Defense Services" Examination or the CDS Exam is conducted twice a year by the UPSC for recruitment into the Indian Military Academy.

Once in the month of September and once in the month of April..

The Notification for the examination is usually released in the months of August and March and the examination is conducted in February and August respectively. Only unmarried graduates are eligible to write the exam.



Age Limits

Indian Military Academy 19-23 Years
Air Force Academy 19-23 Years
Naval Academy 19-22 Years
Officers’ Training Academy 19-25 Years


Subject Marks

English 100 marks
General Knowledge 100 Marks
Elementary Mathematics 100 Marks
Total 300 marks


Apart from these things..you should be physically fit and should have a perfect eyesight..

After clearing the written exam, then the interview and then the medical examination..

Definitely you can get chance to take admission in Indian Army.

There are some selection procedure such as:
Combined Defense Services (CDS) Exam is generally conducted twice a year by the Union Public Service Commission(UPSC) to recuirt the Indian Military Academy(IMA), Officers Training Academy(OTA), Naval Academy and Air Force Academy(AFA)


According to the Eligibility Criteria:

i)For IMA and OTA you must have any degree from any recognized University.

ii)For Naval Academy you should have B.Sc in Physics or Mathematics or Bachelor of Engineering(BE).

iii)For (AFA) you should have the degree of recognized University with Physics and Mathematics at 10+2 level or Bachelor of Engineering(BE)

Age Limit:

i)For IMA:19-24 Years
ii)For OTA:19-23 Years
iii)For Naval Academy:19-22 Years
iv)For AFA :19-25 Years


They select the students through the
i) Written Test
ii)Intelligence & Personality test
iii)Medical test.

Exam Pattern
i) Written Test

for IMA / Naval Academy / AFA
All the three papers are of objective type containing the
English
General Knowledge
Elementary Mathematics
total 300 marks,each paper 100 marks.

for OTA
All the two papers are of objective type containing the

ii)Intelligence & Personality test :Generally here checks the Personality of the candidate,GD,group planning, physical fitness test, interview, small lectures on general issues & psychological tests. etc...

Pre-Commission training After getting final selected the candidates are called for Training.

(a) Direct Entry Jan & July 19 -24 yrs Degree or equivalent at the time of joining the course Combined Defence Services Exam (CDSE) conducted by UPSC and SSB interview Apply in response to advertisement during Apr & Oct.
(b) Engineering Graduate Jan and Jul 20 - 27 yrs Engineering degree in notified discipline Direct SSB interview Apply to Addl Dte Gen of Recruiting (TGC Entry) Army HQs West Block III, R K Puram, New Delhi- 110066 in response to Advertisement during Apr and Oct.
(c) University Entry Scheme July 19-25 yrs (Final Year). 18-24 yrs (Pre Final Year). Final and pre-final year students of Engineering Degree Course Campus interview and SSB interview Apply in response toadvertisement in May
(d) 10+2 Technical Entry Scheme Jan and July 16 1/2- 19 1/2 Yrs 10 + 2 PCM (70% aggregate to apply) Direct SSB interview Apply in response to advertisement in Jan & July every year.

Oh!! sorry friend you are age bar.As for appearing CDS exams 21 years is fixed but with a graduate degree. But as you are in 10th standard now.I think it wouldn't be possible.

you can not apply through NDA as you are over aged. the age limit for NDA is 16.5-19 years.
but dont worrt, you can apply through CDSE SSC etc.

Sorry to say that, you are not eligible for the defense examinations, conducted by UPSC & SSC .
as you are a over aged candidate & having insufficient educational requirements.

as you have just 10th certificate as your educational qualification.
after 12th one can apply for Indian army through NDA (national defense academy), the age limit for this examination is 16.5-19 years,.

also after the completion of graduation one can apply in Indian army through CDS examination(combined defense services),.
the age limit for CDSE is 19-24 years.

i reached 21 years can i join defence service with 10th class base?

Eligibility: age 19-24 years, University graduate or equivalent

Combined Defense Services Examination (CDSE), an all-India competitive examination is conducted by UPSC twice a year.

After the interview conducted by Service Selection Board, successful candidates can join Indian Military Academy for their pre- commission training.

If finally selected, depending on their merit list ranking, they are sent to Indian Military Academy.

As you said that you are now 21 years old then very sorry to say that you are not eligible to join Indian Army through NDA exam conducted by UPSC as they require a maximum age of 19 years.

How ever you can join Indian Army at this age also through CDS exam but for this you must have completed your graduation from any recognized college / university .

Then you can appear in CDS examination conducted every year by UPSC and if you qualify the written and the interview then you can serve as an officer in Indian Army.
