My son is 4 and half years old. In which class can I apply for his admission under CBSE Board's affiliated school? Can he get admission in standard 1st or 2nd in any school affiliated to CBSE Board or ICSE Board?

As per the school education department, the minimum age required for a child to get admission in 1st standard is 5 years.

The minimum age for admission at the age of 3, 4 and 5 years as in the month of starting the session for nursery, kindergarten and Class 1 respectively.

As per the CBSE age criteria chart for Nursery class a child age should be over 3 years and for a Junior KG child should be above 4 years at the time of admission and for Class 1st age should be about 5 years and 4 months by 30th September of that Academic Year.

As per this chart you can admit your son to Junior KG. In ICSE also the age criteria is almost same for Nursery it is 3 years and for junior KG it is 4 years.
