Re: Detailed Procedure to become an IPS Officer? Required Percentage of Marks in Graduation to apply for this position?
The procedure is very simple my friend. You just need to complete the graduation after which you are eligible to apply for the Indian Police Service. The procedure isn't complex. Just ensure that you meet academic as well physical requirements and then apply for it.
The forms for the Indian Police Service Exam are made available during November/December. The Union Public Service Commission, which is responsible for conducting the IPS entrance exam first issues a notification following which forms are made available. You must read the notification properly to see who to apply for the Indian Police Service. Just follow the procedure properly and apply for the exam which will be conducted in May. I will write about the exam pattern a little later. Firstly make sure you are meeting the criteria. Eligibility 1. Candidates of Indian origins are eligible to apply. 2. A bachelor degree in any stream. 3. There is no minimum percentage requirement for IPS. Age Limit 1. General - 21 to 30 years. 2. OBC - 21 to 33 years. 3. SC/ST - 21 to 35 years. Physical Requirements Height: Male - For General 165 cm and for ST 160 cm. Female - For General 150 cm and for ST 145 cm. Eye Sight: 6/6 or 6/9 distant vision for good eye 6/12 or 6/9 for worst eye No color blindness or night blindness Chest: Male Minimum 84 cm. Expansion 5 cm Female Min 79 cm expansion 5 cm Exam Pattern 1. Preliminary Exam It is conducted in May. There are 2 papers in the preliminary exam that are required to clear to appear for Main Exams. The score of preliminary exam is not added in the final total. 2. Main Exam Couple of months after the preliminary exam you will be called to appear for Main exam. However only if you have cleared the preliminary. There will be 9 papers in the Main exam. 3. Interview |
