Re: Details about NET and SLET entrance exam?
National Eligibility Test (NET) is conducted for the college lectureship and Junior Research Fellowship. SLET is also conducted for the same purpose however by the states not centre.
While the NET is conducted for central government colleges the SLET exam is conducted for the state government funded colleges. Each state is required to conduct its own SLET entrance exam. National Eligibility Test is conducted by the University Grants Commission. It is conducted twice in a year. While SLET completely depends on state. For example Gujarat conducts it once in October while Maharashtra conducts it twice. It varies from state to state. However the eligibility criteria remains the same regardless of you applying for the SLET for NET entrance exam. Eligibility 1. Indian national only is allowed to sit for NET. 2. You must have completed or should be in final year of PG course. 3. 55 percent marks is the minimum required to appear for exam. 4. SC/ST need 50 percent in PG to appear. 5. Final year students should submit their degree in 2 years. 6. Your NET subject will depend on PG degree. 7. There is no limit on attempts. 8. The age limit is 28 for General candidate appearing for JRF. 9. It is extended to 31 years for OBC student. 10. SC/ST gets another 2 years relaxation which makes it 33 years for them. 11. There is no upper age limit for lectureship. |
