Dear Neha,

The acronym for CDS is Combined Defence Services.

CDS examination is conducted by UPSC twice every year for Ar Force, Navy and Military wings.

The eligibility criteria required for CDS examination are prescribed as below:-

* Completion of graduation in any discipline from any recognized college or university.

* Final year contenders are not eligible.

* Age limit:- 21-30 yrs.

* Age relaxation:- 3 yrs for OBC and 5 yrs for SC/ST contenders.

* Nationality:- Indian.

* Physically and mentally fit.

CDS exams are conducted by UPSC each year
This exam is held two times in a year

Eligibilty criteria to apply for the CDS exams is:

Education:
Indian Airforce- Graduation Pass with Physics and Mathematics as subjects in class 12th or BE/BTECH
Indian Navy - BE/BTECH
Indian Military Academy (IMA) - Graduation Pass in any Stream
Officers Training Academy (OTA) - Graduation Pass in any Stream

AGE LIMITS-
IMA- Between 19- 24 years
OTA Between 19- 25 years
NAVY - Between 19- 22 years
AIR FORCE - Between 19- 23 years

As you are pursing B.Tech. after completion of which you are eligible to apply for CDS.

CDS - Combined Defence Service, the entrance exam for which is conducted by UPSC twice every year as CDS-I and CDS-II for an entry in to Indian Military Academy, Naval Academy, Air Force Academy and Officer's Training Academy.

The eligible candidate must be an Indian unmarried national having either appear for the final Graduation Degree exam/B.Tech. exam or pass in any stream from a recognised University within the age of 19 to 25 years with good Physical and Mental health.

The CDS can be applied through on line by paying requisite fee for the exam.

The selection is through written exam followed by personal interview along with physical fitness and Medical test.

I am happy to inform you that you are eligible for Combined Defence Services after passing B.Tech.

You can apply in C.D.S exam while pursuing final year B.Tech course.

COMBINED DEFENCE SERVICES

C.D.S exam is conducted by U.P.S.C twice in a year.

Age limit for C.D.S exam is 19-24 year.

In C.D.S exam unmarried Male and female are eligible.

You have to qualify the three stage of selection:-
> Written exam
> Interview
> Medical Exam

If you are interested to pursue a career in defense then CDS exam is the apt one for you. Full form of CDSE is Combined Defense Service Examination. It is conducted by the Union Public Service Commission for those candidates who wants to join the Indian Military Academy, Naval Academy, Air Force Academy or Officers’ Training Academy.

To enter the Indian Military Academy you need to have a bachelor's degree in any discipline from a recognized university and your age should vary between 19 and 23 years.

To enter the Air Force Academy you need to get a B.Sc degree with physics or mathematics or a bachelor's degree in engineering/technology and your age should vary between 19 and 23 years.

To enter the Naval Academy you need to have a B.E./B.Tech degree in engineering or technology or a bachelor's degree in science with physics or mathematics and your age should vary between 19 and 22 years.

To enter the Officer's Training Academy you need to complete your graduation in any discipline from a recognized university and your age should vary between 19 and 25 years.

The written examination is the main tool used to assess a person's capability. But along with that there is the intelligence test and interview session as well. Apart from that the chosen candidates will also be asked to take part in Group Discussion, Group Planning and Outdoor tasks. This is done mainly to grill the candidates in all ways possible and bring out the best in him/her.

The examination pattern of IMA, AFA and NA is same. OTA has a different exam pattern. For the first three academies there will be three papers and for each paper 2 hours have been allotted. From each paper 120 questions in maximum will be asked and 10 marks have been allotted for each paper. For OTA there will be two papers of 100 marks each and the time limit is same as above.
