You can apply for both the exams as MCM is a PG degree. For NET PG with at least 55% marks are mandatory. Eligibility for SET varies with state. Master’s degree with B.Ed is the preferred qualification. Further details can be collected from the concerned website.

Eligibilty to apply for the NET and SET exams are:
Post Graduation pass
Minimum 55% marks in Post Graduation for the General and OBC candidates
Minimum 50% marks for the SC/ST candidates

NET exams are conducted by UGC
This exam is conducted two times in a year

SET exams are conducted by any one of the state universities.
This exam is conducted once each year

Yes Off course your eligible for NET Examination . To apply for the NET Examination you should complete Master degree graduate in any discipline from recognized University / institution . The detailed eligibility criteria for the NET exam is given below:

NET stands for ( National Eligibility Criteria ) and this Examination is conducted by the UGC (University Grants Commission) . This Examination held twice in a year . If your Interested to become an Lecturer then you should compulsory qualified in NET Examination .

To apply For NET ( National Eligibility Test ) Examination You have to complete master degree any stream from recognied University . You should score Minimum 55% marks in Master degree and relaxation will be applicable for sc/st candidates .If you score 54.99 % percentage then your not eligible for NET Examination Final year candidate may also eligible to apply for this Examination , But the candidate require to Submit the Course Completion Certificate .

Your age should be not more more then 28 years for Junior Resaerch Felloship Program . If you belong from sc/st candidates then relaxation will applicable . There is no Upper age limit for Lectureship Program . Any age canddiate may eligible to apply for Lectureship Program .

The Notification for NET ( National Eligibility Test ) Examination may published in Employement news papers as well as Official website of UGC University Grants Commission . You may apply for this Examination in both the online as well as offline . The Notification for this Examination may published in during the Month of March / and Last date of Online Application for this Examination during the Month of April , Date of Entrance Examination during the Month of December .

So, If you complete Master degree course then your eligible for NET Examination .

Maharashtra SET 2013 Dates:-

SET 2013 Exam on :17th February, 2013

Online Submission Starts from : 11th December, 2012

Last Date of Online Submission : 31st December, 2012

Last date of hardcopy submission : 8th JANUARY, 2013

STATE AGENCY:-

In accordance with the guidelines of the U.G.C., the Government of Maharashtra, Higher & Technical Education & Employment Department by their Resolution No. UGC-1391/2066/VS-4 , dt: July, 14, 1994 have nominated the University of Pune as the State Agency for conducting the State Eligibility Test (SET) . The U.G.C. has accredited the SET examinations being held by the University of Pune as the State Agency of the Government of Maharashtra and at the Government of Goa.

Eligibility Criteria:-

a) The candidates must have Master's Degree from an institution recognized by U.G.C.

b) The candidates other than SC/ST category who have secured atleast 55% marks (without grace) in Master's Degree or equivalent examination, are eligible for this test. SC/ST/PH/VH (PH-Physically Handicapped. VH-Visually Handicapped i.e. Blind) category candidates who have secured atleast 50% marks(without grace) in Master's Degree or equivalent examination are eligible for this test.

c) Those candidates who have secured even 54.99% marks or below (even 49.99% Marks or below for SC/ST/PH/VH candidates) in Master's Degree examination are NOT eligible for this test.

d) Candidates who have appeared OR will be appearing at the qualifying master's degree examination and whose result is still awaited OR candidates whose examinations have been delayed may also apply for this Test. However, such candidates will be admitted provisionally and shall be considered eligible to apply for Lectureship only after they have passed their Master's Degree examination or equivalent examination with atleast 55% marks (50% in case of SC/ST/PH/VH category candidates) These candidates must submit their P.G. Marksheet within two years from the date of declaration of result of the SET examination.

e) Those candidates who are studying in the first year of two years course or in first two semesters of a four semesters course of Master's Degree cannot appear for this test.

f) M.C.M. students are not allowed to appear for SET Examination.

g) Candidates who have completed Ph.D. and had passed Master's Degree prior to 19th September, 1991 with at least 50% marks (without grace marks as explained above) are also eligible to appear for SET examination.

h) Candidates have to appear for SET in the subject of their Post Graduation only.

i) Candidates should note that their candidature is provisional. Their candidature will be deemed final upon verification of eligibility condition with reference to the documents enclosed with their application or as may be called for.

j) There is no upper age limit.

j) The candidates who have passed M.Sc.( by Research) are not eligible to appear for the SET Exam. As per the U.G.C. Rules.

l) The SET agency will not issue any marksheet to qualified/not-qualified candidate. Also no revaluations of papers are allowed for SET Examination. The SET agency will issue certificate to qualifying candidates only.

EXEMPTION (ELIGIBILITY FOR LECTURESHIP):-

(a) Exemption from SET will be as per decisions taken by the UGC and State Government from time to time.

(b) The candidates who have passed the UGC/CSIR, JRF examination prior to 1989 or have cleared the State level Eligibility Test of any state accredited by the UGC for lectureship prior to 1st June, 2002 are exempted.

(c) SET shall remain the minimum eligibility condition for recruitment and appointment of lecturers in Universities/Colleges/Institutions. Provided, however, that candidates, who are or have been awarded Ph.D. Degree in compliance of the “University Grants Commission (minimum standards and procedure for award of Ph.D. Degree) , regulation 2009, shall be exempted from the requirement of the minimum eligibility condition of SET for recruitment and appointment of Assistant Professor or equivalent positions in Universities/Colleges/Institutions”.

Centres:-

The SET Examination will be conducted at the following 12 centres only. Mumbai, Pune, Kolhapur, Nashik, Jalgaon, Aurangabad, Nanded, Amravati, Nagpur, Goa, Solapur & Chandrapur.

Paper Pattern:-

The Examination will consists of Paper-I, Paper-II and Paper-III. The examination for all the three papers would be held on one day, in two separate sessions.

Session:- First

Paper:- I

Number of Questions:- 60 out of which 50 questions are to be attempted


Session:- First

Paper:- II

Number of Questions:- 50 questions all of which are compulsory


Session:- Second

Paper:- III

Number of Questions:- 75 questions all of which are compulsory


Paper-I shall be of general nature, intended to assess the teaching/research aptitude of the candidate. It will primarily be designed to test reasoning ability, comprehension, divergent thinking and general awareness of the candidate. Sixty (60) multiple choice questions of two marks each will be given, out of which the candidate would be required to answer any fifty (50). In the event of the candidate attempting more than fifty questions, the first fifty questions attempted by the candidate would be evaluated.

Paper-II shall consist of fifty (50) objective type compulsory questions based on the subject selected by the candidate. Each question will carry two marks.

Paper-III will consist of 75 objective type compulsory questions from the subject selected by the candidate. Each question will carry two marks. All questions of Paper- II and Paper-III will be compulsory, covering entire syllabus (INCLUDING ALL ELECTIVES, WITHOUT OPTIONS).
