It is great that you want to become astronaut in the future. But let me tell you that it is a very lengthy process and would require a lot of patience before you can actually become astronaut and fly to the International Space Station just like Sunita Williams and made the country proud.

At the moment NASA is the only hope of candidates from India who wants to become astronauts. It is because ISRO, our own flagship space organization do not have the technology to send man into space. Although it is believed that ISRO is planning to send man to space by the end of this decade. At the moment it is busy with other projects like the Chandrayan and Mars Mission which was recently announced by the Prime Minister on 15th August during his speech at Red Fort.

Since ISRO is out of the picture for several years, you would really have to depend on NASA to fly into space. However who knows by the time you become eligible to fly into space, ISRO may actually be recruiting astronauts. It is a possibility.

Now what you can do is apply to NASA for the job of mission specialist. The mission specialist also gets to go into space. Unfortunately people from outside United States are not allowed to become pilot of the space shuttle. Anyway I don't think that would matter much as long as you get to go into space. Here is what you are required to do.

1. Complete 12th standard with PCM as the subjects.

2. You need to finish graduation in Physics, Mathematics, Chemistry, biology or get the B.Tech degree in Aerospace.

3. After completing Aerospace Engineering, appear for the GATE exam and apply for the M.Tech course.

4. The post graduation course should be followed by the PhD.

5. After completing PhD you need at least 3 years of related and progressively experience.

6. After getting the required experience, appear in the NASA exam for recruitment of scientists and astronauts.

7. If you cleared the exam, NASA would give you training to become astronaut.

You would go through several physical and mental tests to determine whether you can cope with the challenges of the space travel. Some of the tests you would go through include Aircraft weightless training lessons, Shuttle Mission Simulator etc.

If passed these tests with flying colors, you would become astronaut and get a chance to fly into space.

hi...!!!

-->Aeronautics is the science involved with the study, design, and manufacturing of airflight-capable machines, or the techniques of operating aircraft and rocketry within the atmosphere.

--> While the term—literally meaning "sailing the air"—originally referred solely to the science of operating the aircraft,it has since been expanded to include technology, business and other aspects related to aircraft.

-->One of the significant parts in aeronautics is a branch of physical science called aerodynamics, which deals with the motion of air and the way that it interacts with objects in motion, such as an aircraft.

-->The term "aviation" is sometimes used interchangeably with aeronautics, although "aeronautics" includes lighter-than-air craft such as airships, and includes ballistic vehicles while "aviation" does not.

SELECTION PROCESS:-

A written test will be conducted and if you are selected you will be called for the Interview.
The written test will be conducted on 21.04.2012(Saturday) at thirteen venues and they are:-

Ahmedabad
Bangalore
Bhopal
Bhubaneswar
Chandigarh
Chennai
Dispur
Hyderabad
Kolkata
Lucknow
Mumbai
New Delhi
Thiruvananthapuram

-->you have to do the following for doing aeronautics:-
-Complete 12th standard with PCM as your subjects.

-you need to finish graduation in PCM subjects or get the B.tech degree in aerospace.

-After completing aerospace engineering ,appear for the GATE exam and apply for M.tech Course.

-The post graduation course should be followed by the Phd.

-After completing Phd you need atleast 3 years of related and progressively experience.

-After getting the required experience ,appear in NASA exam for recruitement of scientists and astronauts.

-If you cleared the exam ,NASA will give you training to become an astronaut.

all the best....go ahead and work hard!!!
