I want to join Police service, wether CBI , IPS OR CID. I heard these all are same . I Really want to know the difference between these fields . What is the criteria ? I have checked the main offical site http://www.upsc.gov.in/ but I am not getting proper answers. I would like to know when the Police service exam will held , How we can study? Any particular site or contact details where we can get all the informations. I have completed my Grad and doing Master but both I have done correspondence. Please help me and suggest me how I can go for Police service exam.

Indian Police Service are appointed as Assistant Commissioner of Police, which in some states is called Assistant Superintendent of Police. to become ACP, you will have to qualify civil service exam, to be eligible for it, you should be a graduate from a recognized university.
The age limit to apply for the exam is 21-30 years, the maximum age limit is, as always, relaxed upto 5 years for candidates from Sc/St category and 3 years for OBC category. |

After giving IPS exam you can become ACP Officer.
The UPSC examination comprises of two successive stages. IPS exam is carried out by the UPSC (Union Public Service Commission) and constitutes two stages: 1. The Preliminary Examination and 2. The Main Examination. Preliminary Exam comprises multiple choice questions aFnd is also a qualifying exam for appearing into second exam. Main Examination which comprises a written exam and an interview. For this exam You must be 21 years (minimum) and 30 years (maximum) at the time of taking exam. SC/ST/OBC and ex-servicemen are given exemption of 3 to 5 years in maximum age limit. Thanks...... |

If you want to become an ACP(Assistant Commissioner of Police) Officer then you have to crack the exam of Civil Services conducted by UPSC.
Candidate who gets selected for IPS(Indian Police Service) after clearing the exam will be appointed as ACP also named as ASP(Assistant Superintendent of Police. Eligibility Criteria for the Exam: 1. Graduate in any stream from recognized University. 2. Age Limit: 21-30 years. Age relaxation: 3 years for OBC & 5 years for SCs/STs. Wish you all the very best. |

Civil service is nt just for ips..it contains diffrnt services IFS, IAS , IPS..u will gt acordng to your choice nd ranks in exam.if a persn opt IAS nd his rank goes dwn he will get ips..check indian civil service wiki.in sme states their is direct recurtment for DSP.so he will be get cnfrd ips aftr sme years.non dsp nrmly appoin as ACP.Acp is nt a rank its a position.non ips officer will becme acp bt will nt hve law and order charge.asp is an ips rank he can becme acp law nd ordr.acp dcp diffrnt in states.example commisiorner in sme states is dig nd sme ig nd sme dgp rank officer.it depnds on stated nd metro cities

Sir my self I am balaji from Bangalore I have passed my 10th and I took bi pc in my intermediate and my aim is to become ACP so can I become police by taking those bi pc and if s means after 12 what I should take and no also means say me what I can do, sir help me
