# The full form of NSG is National Security Guard.

# In the year 1986, in order to tackle the threats of terrorism in the country, the National Security Guards (NSG) was established under the National Security Act of 1986 (Act 47 of 1986)

# As far as the recruitment in National Security Guard (NSG) is concerned, there is no any direct recruitment in National Security Guard (NSG). All the recruitment in National Security Guard (NSG) is done from the soldiers/officers of existing military and para-military forces. In short, the recruitment is done on the basis of deputation.

# If one wishes to join the National Security Guard (NSG), then one should go for joining any military or para-military force first of all.

# The eligibility criteria required for joining National Security Guard (NSG):

* Must be member of any existing military or para-military force.
* Serving soldier/officers must have excellent service record.
* There must not be anything adverse record against him while performing his duties during his service period.
* There must not be any indisciplinary and criminal record.

# The main aim of National Security Guard (NSG) is:

* Rescue operations in hostages/kidnapping situations
* Disposal of bombs
* Security to VIPs and VVIPs
* Handling hijacking situations
* Combat terrorist attacks/threats to vital institutes

# The two branches or divisions of National Security Guard (NSG) are:

* Special Rangers Group (SRG)
* Special Action Group (SAG)
