How to be a flying officer at Indian Air Force?


I want to be Flying officer at Indian Air Force So plz tell me how to join in Indian Air Force.

The Selection procedure is based on the entrance exam, AFCAT conducted by the Air Force Selection Board.

Age Limit :

19 to 23 years

Educational Qualifications:

10+2 with Physics and Mathematics.

Nationality:

Indian (Men only)

There will be objective type questions on topics such as

Numerical Ability

Verbal Ability

General Awareness

Reasoning

Physical:

Mini height 162.5, leg length min 99 cms, max 120 cms.

Tigh length 64 cms. Sitting Height Min 81.5 cms, max 96 cms.

vision Min 6/6 in one and 6/9 in another. correctable to 6/6 only for hypemetropia


Selection Procedure

STEP 1 – RESPOND TO ADVERTISEMENT FOLLOWED BY WRITTEN TEST

STEP 2 - SSB (Services Selection Board) TESTING

STEP 3 - CONDUCT OF MEDICAL EXAMINATIONS

STEP 4 - PREPARING ALL INDIA MERIT LIST

Dear Friend,

You have not mentioned your educational qualification here which is very important.

You can join Air Force as an officer through either of these two examinations:

1. National Defense Academy (NDA):

You need to be 12th passed with Physics and Maths
Age should be between 16 and half years to 19 years at the time of joining
only for unmarried male

2. Combined Defense Services (CDS):

Graduation is required and candidate should have studied Physics and Maths at 12th level
Age should be between 19 years to 23 years

Both examinations are conducted every year by UPSC.

Firstly let me tell you the details about the AFCAT Exam.

Air Force CAT Exam:

1) Indian Air force conducts the Air Force CAT Exam for the selection of qualified candidates in the various courses offered by the academy.

2) Both males and females can apply for various programs in Flying Branch, Technical and Ground Duty Branches within air force.

3) Those who clear the test can join the various courses within the institute.

4)The Air force academy carries out the exam annually mostly in the month of March.


Structure and Pattern of the Air Force CAT Exam:

1)The structure and pattern of the test varies with the post, the aspirants have applied for.

2) It is a 120 minutes duration test, which consists of objective type questions.

3) The Syllabus of AFCAT exam will test students in the areas like Reasoning, mathematical and oral ability.

4) Other than, these students will also be tested in General awareness and Knowledge.

5) The number of questions in the test will be 100 or more.


Qualification Criteria for the Air Force CAT Exam:

1) There are many branches to which the candidates can enter through the Air force CAT Exam.

2) The branches include Flying Branch, Technical and Ground Duty Branches.

3) For each of these departments, the eligibility requirements will vary in age and education qualifications.

4) Even though the minimum age requirement as to appear in the Air force CAT exam is 18 years, the maximum age would be 28 years.


Application Procedure of the Air Force CAT Exam:

To obtain the forms, they can rely on the online or offline modes. The forms for the test are issued in the official address of the Air force Academy. Applicants can also procure the same from the authorized site of the academy.

Flying Officer in Indian Air Force


To become a flying officer in the Air Force..you need to appear for the AFCAT entrance examination..

AFCAT stands for Air Force Common Admission Test is conducted once every year..

For appearing in the AFCAT Examination.. there are certain conditions which you must fulfill first :-

1) All candidates should be more than 19 years old as well as less than 23 years..

2) The educational qualification required is to have a B.Tech degree from a recognized University..

3) You should also have secured an aggregate of 60% in your B.E./B.Tech.

4) The physical requirements to appear for the AFCAT are :-

(i) The minimum height of the candidates should be 162.5 cms with proportionate weight..

(ii) The length of the legs should be between 99 cms to 120 cms

(iii) Your sitting height must be between 81.5 cms to 96 cms..

For Graduates to join flying branch one has to apply for following examination.

Also note that you must be from physics and maths field then only you will be considered for flying branch.

-CDS Examination if you're a Graduate in Engineering or Physics or Maths .The age limit for Indian Air Force Academy is 19 to 23 years.

-AFCAT if you're Graduation in Engineering or Physics or Maths. you'll be able to apply for flying branch if you wish to become a Air Force Pilot. The age required is between 19 to 23 years for Flying branch.

Selection Procedure:

-Written Exam

-SSB Interview

-Medical Examination

Also there will be PABT ( Pilot Aptitude Battery Test) for flying branch. Without passing PABT you can't become flying officer.
