Indian Police Services comes under Civil Services of Indian Government. Union Public Service commission conducts Civil Services examination for IPS, IAS, IRS etc. The syllabus of Civil Services examination and State Public Services is 80% same. You will have to read state general knowledge for State Public Service Commission.

You can prepare for Civil Services examination after bachelor's degree in commerce. The minimum age limit to apply for Civil examination is 21 years. Some good coaching institutes for preparation of this exam is Vajiram and Ravi IAS academy, Vision, Khan Study Group etc.

You can prepare basic foundation of this exam with help of NCERT books of social science and science from standard 6th to standard 12th.
