How much rank is required in GATE to get into IIT's and in IISC's?
hi,
i am subhajit, 4th yr,MECHANICAL engg student, i am preparing for gate 2012, I BELONG TO SC CATAGORY.. so i want to know that what rank i must get in GATE to get into iit surely ,as per my choice of subject for m.tech???? also for IISC..????? THNKS |

Given the fact that you fall into SC category, you just need to sit for the exam. Nothing else !

To get a chance to get admitted in the IITs for M.Tech you should have a very good score in GATE. An approx percentile of 90 may be considered as an expected chance to apply for. Your all India rank must be within 100. There is also a fact that this statistics always differs in different streams as the number of seats and candidates are not same in each stream. SCs, STs will have relaxation regarding their admission in case of GATE Score.

Dear friend,
Since you belongs to SC category and mechanical department your eligibility criteria will be very low...... For BC the cutoff is 25 For you it may be less than 25 any way you have to prepare well for the gate exam........ Study all your engineering subjects......... It will enough to get high marks in gate exam. all the best......

There are many institutes which conduct their own entrance exam for direct admission without GATE score.
