Hi!!!!!!!!! I'm a B.E - Ist year graduate with computer science as major. I want to join CBI is that possible? My
Height is 183 cms,
Chest is 40(normal)and 43 when expanded.
Till now have an average of 85% in academics from 10th to UG 1st year
Please reply me!!!!!!!!!!!!

Following is the Physical eligibility criteria for CBI:

1. Inspector (Central Excise)/Inspector (Preventive Officer)/ Inspector (Examiner) (Male Candidates): Height 157.5 cms. Chest 81 cms. (fully expanded with a minimum expanses of 5 cms)

Height relaxable by 5 cms. In the case of Garwalis, Assamese, Gorkhas, Tribals, members of Kumaon Region, Nagas and Scheduled Tribes who as a race are short in height and not to the people declared as Scheduled Tribe.

2. Inspector (Central Excise)/ Inspector (Preventive Officer)/ Inspector (Examiner)(Female Candidates): Height 152 cms. Weight 48 Kgs

Height relaxable by 2.5 cms. Weight by 2 Kgs. for Gorkhas, Garwalis, Assamese, Kumaon Region and Nagaland Tribals and Members of Scheduled Tribes who as a race are short in height and not to the people declared as Scheduled Tribe.

3. Ph Physical Requirements for the posts of Sub-Inspectors in C.B.I.

(i) Height

For men - 165 cms.

For women - 150 cms.

Height relaxable for Hillsmen and Tribals : 5 cms

(ii) Chest:

76 cms. with expansion

(iii) Vision :

Eye-sight (with or without glasses) Distant vision: 6/6 in one and 6/9 in the other eye.

Near vision: 0.6 in one eye and 0.8 in other eye.

Hi, yes you can indeed join CBI. Your height is more than enough and you seem to be fully fit. You are good in academics too.

After graduation you have to apply for SSC Combined Graduate Level exam and opt for CBI there, after you clear both the prelims and mains, you have an interview.

what is the pay scale of a cutom excise inspector or a CBI inspector and are there different merit list for both of these. and when do we actually opt for the different examination . and is there any particular eligibility criteria to go in to cbi or cutom excise. is it similar to the civil services exam where in the top rankers go for ias and after that they can go for ips etc.

my chest is 80cm without expansion & 85cm with expansion, height is 163 cm whether i possesses physical requirement of excise inspector?
