I want to know about the CDS exam. when they arise and how i apply to them.

CDS exams are conducted by UPSC each year
This exam is conducted for four segments of defence services:
ARMY
AIRFORCE
NAVY
OTA

Eligibilty for this exam is :
>> IMA - Graduation Pass in any Stream
>> OTA- Graduation Pass in any Stream
>> AIRFORCE- Graduation Pass with Phy and Maths as subjects in class 12th or BE/BTECH
>> NAVY - BE/BTECH


AGE LIMITS-
IMA- Between 19- 24 years
OTA Between 19- 25 years
NAVY - Between 19- 22 years
AIR FORCE - Between 19- 23 years


Next CDS exams will be held on 8th Sep 2013
Notification will come out on 25th May 2013

CDS - Combined Defence Service, the entrance exam for which is conducted by UPSC twice every year as CDS-I and CDS-II for entry in to Indian Malitary Academy, Naval Academy, Air Force Academy and Officer's Training Academy.

The eligible candidate must be an Indian unmarried National having either appear for the final Graduation Degree exam or pass in any stream from a recognised University within the age of 19to 25 years with good Physical and Mental health.

Only Female candidate is eligible to apply for Officer's Training Academy of CDS.

Age Criteria differs for all the wing of CDS:-

Indian Military Academy - 19 to 24 years

Indian Naval Academy - 19 to 22 years

Indian Air Force Academy - 19 to 23 years

Officer's Training Academy - 19 to 25 years.

The candidate having Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics in Graduation can apply for all the wings of CDS but withou having the above subjects are only eligible for Indian Military and Officetr's Training Academy of CDS.

CDS stands for the Combined defense Services.It is one of the UPSC that is conducted twice every year just like the NDA exams but there is difference between CDS and NDA though both exams are gateway to defense sector.

It is conducted for getting entrance in three different academies of defense.

IMA: Indian Military academy

INA: Indian Naval academy

OTA: Officer's Training academy.

The basic requirements for the entrance examination is :

1.You need to have bachelor's degree in any respected discipline from a recognised university.

Final year candidates are also allowed to be eligible for the examinations.

For IAF ,you must have mathematics at and physics at 10+2 level and for INA B.sc iwth maths and physics or bachelor's degree in engineering.

2.Age limitations:

The minimum age limit is 19 years.The upper age limit is different for different academies:

IMA:24 years

INA:22 years

OTA:25 years.

3.You must be an Indian citizen.

The dates for applying CDS I had already passed for the year 2013 ,the important dates for the CDS IIare:

Date of notification:25/05/2013

Last date of receiving application: 24/06/2013

Eligibility for the CDS entrance exam :

1. Qualification :

For the Military Academy : Graduation with atleast 55% marks

For the Naval Academy : B.sc with Physics and mathematics with atleast 55% marks

For the Air force Academy : Graduation from any recognized university with physics and mathematics at 12th level or engineering graduate

Age limit: age must be between the 16.5 to 19 years .

The Combined Defence Services(CDS) is conducted every year in the months of February and September by the UPSC..

Candidates can appear for the CDS Exam if :-

CDS Exam Details:-

CDS stands for Combined Defense Service. The CDS exam is conducted by Union Public Service Commission twice a year to recruit cadres of the Army, Navy and Air Force. Generally in the months of May and October this exam is conducted.

You need to state your preferences in the application form as to which wing you want to join. If you choose IMA then you will be sent to the Indian Military Academy in Dehradun for training. On choosing naval you will go to the Naval Academy in Goa. On choosing Air Force you will be sent to the Air Force Academy in Hyderabad and lastly on choosing OTA you will be sent to the OTA Academy in Chennai.

For Indian Military Academy: You need a degree in any discipline from a recognized university. Age should be between 19-24 years.

For Naval Academy: You need a degree with physics and/or mathematics or a degree in engineering. Your age should be between 19-22 years.

For Air Force Academy: You need a B.Sc degree with physics and mathematics or a B.Tech degree in engineering. Age should be between 19-23 years.

Examination Pattern of IMA, AFA and NA is same. There's three sections in this written exam. For each section 100 marks have been allotted and you will be asked 120 questions from each section. You will get two hours to complete each section. So total time allotted is six hours.

For OTA the exam pattern is slightly different. The written exam covers two sections mainly English and General Knowledge. Yo will get four hours to complete this exam.

C.D.S exam is conducted by U.P.S.C twice in a year.
