TNPSC VAO Question Pattern
1) General Knowledge (SSLC Standard): 100 questions for 150 marks
2) General Tamil / General English (SSLC Standard): 100 questions for 150 marks

Both sections will be in single paper. Duration of the test is 3 hours. Minimum qualifying marks for VAO exam is 90 out of 300. Candidates can choose either General Tamil or General English for answering the second 100 questions. General Knowledge question are common for all.

VAO Exam Eligibility Criteria:-

=> Tamilnadu Public Service Commission conducts an examination for the post of Village Administrative Officers whenever there is a vacancy for this post. The notifications for this exam is published in two parts. One for the SC/ST candidates and the next one for all the other categories.

=> To give this you need to have secondary school leaving certificate to give this exam. Although this is the minimum qualification required but even if you have higher qualifications then also you need to show this certificate to be considered eligible.

=> Your age should not be less than 18 years when applying for this exam. The upper age limit is 30 years for general category candidates. For reserved category candidates it is 40 years.

=> On getting selected you will be posted in the villages of Tamilandu. So to avoid communication problem you need to know Tamil language

=> Even if you do not know Tamil you can still the give the exam. But in that case on getting selected you will be asked to sit for the Tamil language exam which is also conducted by the TNPSC and you have to pass in it.

=> Selectors expects that only physically fit candidates will give this exam. So to prove your medical fitness you will be asked to show medical certificates to the authorities concerned during exam time.

=> The selection procedure is primarily based on the written examination. Other factors which are considered are the district chosen by you and the number of reservations of the district in question.

=> For the exam you will get questions from general knowledge and general tamil/general english. 150 marks each have been allotted for each paper and you will get three hours to complete the whole paper. There will be 200 questions to answer and all of them will be of S.S.L.C. standard.

=> Cost of the application forms is Rs. 150 and for reserved category candidates it is Rs. 50. This year's exam is due in September and the results will come out in November and by December the interview sessions will start.
