what is the eligibility criteria for appearing the jam iit ?? i mean how much marks does one has to score in Bsc. for getting admission here?

I'm appearing b.sc 1st yr in chemistry hons under c.u.so i want prerpare for jam exam in 2013 so pls give syllabus of jam exam.

IIT conducts Joint Entrance Exam for the Post Graduate and Research Programs for the various courses. The basic qualification required is Bachelor degree in any science or computer application from the recognized university. The students must have 55% in the university exam including all the subjects and languages. The reservation category needs only 50% of aggregate marks. ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS FOR ADMISSION

Eligibility requirements: The candidates who qualify in JAM-2011 shall have to fulfill the following eligibility criteria for admissions in IITs

At least 55% aggregatemarks (taking into account all subjects, including languages and subsidiaries, all years combined) for general/OBC category candidates and at least 50% aggregate marks (taking into account all subjects, including languages and subsidiaries, all years combined) for SC/ST/PD category candidates in the qualifying degree

For candidates with letter grades/CGPA (instead of percentage of marks), the equivalence in percentage of marks will be decided by the admitting institutes

Proof of having passed the qualifying degree with the minimum educational qualification as specified by the admitting institute should be submitted by 30th September, 2011

SIR, I want to know the difference between GATE and JAM. And another thing i want to know about the good institutions for msc genetics in india.

IIT JAM is Joint Admission Test for Graduates for admission into M.Sc course in IITs.

You must have atleast 55 % marks in B.Sc if you want to Apply for IIT JAM .

There is 5 % relaxation in marks for SC/ST and PWD.

Hence if you have 55 % marks in B.Sc. then you can apply for IIT JAM otherwise you will not be eligible for it.

Dear friend,

There is no criterion of marks in B.SC to write GATE.If you qualified in the B.SC that is sufficient to write JAM.You can write at most 2 times the JAM.
