Re: Are MCA students eligible to sit for IES exam?
MCA students are not eligible for IES examination. Candidate should be an engineering graduate. However, candidates studying in last semester of engineering can also appear in entrance test but they are required to produce the proof of passing engineering degree at the time of interview, which is held after shortlisting in written test.

Re: Are MCA students eligible to sit for IES exam?
Sure there is no problem in you appearing the IES exam. The minimum educational qualification that you need is graduation. Also you should have studied the course from a recognized institute. Other than these there is a requirement that you should be physically fit. Also there should be no criminal case pending in the court of law against you.

Re: Are MCA students eligible to sit for IES exam?
This is very common question from most of the MCA post-graduates.Also there is great confusion between Indian Economic Services and Indian Engineering Services as both can be the Full Forms for IES, but IES stands for the former,i.e Indian Economic Services.
Indian Economic Services: The minimum educational qualification required to be eligible for the Indian Economic services is a Post-graduate degree in Economics/Applied Economics/Busines Economics/Econometrics. Since, you are MCA, so you must not be having the above mentioned degrees, hence you are not eligible for IES. Engineering Services: The minimum education qualification required to be eligible for the Engineering Services is a Bachelor's degree in Engineering. You being an MCA, do not belong to the engineering field, rendering you ineligible for the exam. Conclusion:You do not have the required degree for the above mentioned exams. |

Re: Are MCA students eligible to sit for IES exam?
The eligibility criteria does not allow you to sit for IES.
Only graduates in any field of engineering and final year engineering students are eligible to apply for IES. And they have to choose any one of the following stream as their branch in the IES exam. Electrical Engineering Electronics & Communications Engineering Civil Engineering Mechanical Engineering Whatever branch they will choose, questions will come according to the syllabus of that branch. So friend, MCA candidates are not eligible. |

Re: Are MCA students eligible to sit for IES exam?
Dear Prameet,
The Acronym "IES" stands for the Indian Engineering Services Exam. This Examination is conducted every year by the Union Public Service Commission. As per your query , i would like to confirm you that as far as i am concerned , MCA Students are not eligible for the IES Exam. This is because , only those candidates are considered eligible who have completed Bachelor`s Degree in Engineering in any stream from any recognized college/university. Sorry MCA pass candidates are not eligible for Engineering Services Examination. You must have any of one of the following qualification to be eligible for Engineering Services Examination.
Graduation in Engineering stream from a recognized University OR M.Sc in Radio Physics, Wireless Communication, Electronics and Radio Engineering or its equivalent from a recognized University. It is clear that you don't have any of the above qualification so you are definitely not eligible for this exam. Age required for this exam is 21 to 30 years. This age is form General category and there is age relaxation available to reserved categories. Selection Procedure: -Written Exam -Interview Exam Pattern: |

Re: Are MCA students eligible to sit for IES exam?
What you are asking is not possible. You should have Bachelor of Technology degree to apply for the IES. The full form of IES is Indian Engineering Service and as the name suggest, it is conducted for the Engineers only.
Indian Engineering Service is conducted by the Union Public Service Commission. This entrance exam is conducted only once a year to fill vacancies in various government departments. IES jobs are very reputed which is why Engineers prefer to appear for the entrance exam. The Indian Engineering Service is conducted in only 4 deparments of Engineering:- 1) Mechanical 2) Electronics and Communications 3) Civil 4) Electrical While all the Engineering graduates are eligible to apply. They will have to appear for exam is one of the 4 deparments mentioned above. Apart from the B.Tech graduates, M.Sc degree holders are eligible for the exam but not candidates who have completed Master of Computer Applications. I am afraid that you are not eligible for the exam. Consider applying for job related to your degre. You can apply in MNCs like Microsoft, Google, Infosys etc. But it would depend on how much marks you have obtained in the 10th, 12th, graduation and post graduation. IES Eligibility 1. Exam is open for citizens of India and Nepal. 2. A subject for Bhutan is also eligible. 3. You should have B.Tech degree. 4. There is no marks criteria. 5. As on January 1st of examination year, you age should be 21 to 30 years. 6. There is 3 years relaxation for OBC 7. While a maximum of 5 years for SC/ST. |
