I heard that from January, 2018 government is not accepting any open university degree's for any type of government jobs. Is that true? Does IGNOU also falls under same category?

The full form of IGNOU is Indira Gandhi National Open University.

It clearly means that if falls under open university. The degrees and certificate of open university approved by UGC and DEC will be valid for government jobs.

You must select university which is recognized by UGC and DEC.

It is an absurd or you can take it is a rumor that open university degree will be not valid for government jobs.

So, you just need to prepare for the examination to get government jobs.

The common eligibility to appear for the examination is that :-

Candidate must have passed bachelor degree from a recognised university.

The age limit varies with examination.

So, you just need to focus on the preparation to qualify in the examination.

The eligibility criteria for most of the government exams is that you should have a degree from a recognised Indian University.
The rest of the criteria depends upon the post and the sector.

IGNOU is a recognised university, and all degrees provided by it are considered as valid. It is the foremost among the Open Universities in India. There has been no notification(formal) as such regarding non-approval or non acceptance of degrees provided by Open Universities for Govt. jobs. You have nothing to worry about.
