Possibility to apply for IIT JAM while being in 2nd year of graduation?
I'm pursuing my 2nd year of Biotechnology. Is it possible to apply for IIT JAM examination while still continuing my 2nd year of graduation? Or, do I need to complete the entire graduation first? Can you brief me about this?

Re: Possibility to apply for IIT JAM while being in 2nd year of graduation?
Being, a student of second year of graduation degree course , you are not eligible to apply for IIT JAM as for appearing in the same examination, the minimum education required is a graduation degree in concerned subject from a recognised university. Students pursuing final year of their graduation degree are too eligible but not who are pursuing second year of graduation degree course.
So, you can apply for IIT JAM from next year when you get into final year of your graduation degree course. |

No, you are not eligible to apply for the IIT JAM.
The examination is conducted for admission in M.Sc course. The minimum required qualification is bachelor degree from a recognised university. Candidate's in the final year are also eligible to appear for the examination, so you are not eligible to appear in the examination in 2nd year of course. |

Only candidates who have passed or in the final year of bachelor degree course are eligible to appear for IIT - Joint Admission Test conducted to get admission in master degree course.
So, you are not eligible to appear for the examination while pursuing in the 2nd year of Biotechnology course. But, you can start the preparation for examination, if you want to appear in examination later. |

Re: Possibility to apply for IIT JAM while being in 2nd year of graduation?
Dear sir /madam,
JAM stands for joint admission test for M.Sc. program. In IIT JAM the candidate who want to appear in this exam must fulfilled following criteria. 1. Candidate must have graduate from any recognised university or institute from India or abroad( there are some seat is also reserved for abroad students). 2. Candidate must have atleast 60% in graduation. 3. Candidate can apply for Same subject in which he/she completed his/ her graduation degrees program. 4. Student in final year can apply for this program. Now you are in 2nd year of your graduation then can not appear in this exam. This exam is conducted by IIT colleges which is considered as very tough exam but you can crack it with hard work and determination. |

Re: Possibility to apply for IIT JAM while being in 2nd year of graduation?
Being a student of the second year you're not eligible to appear in the exam. But don't worry you can appear next year in IIT JAM. As per the rules, final year student is eligible to appear in the exam. If you don't want to appear with the final year, go after completing your graduation.
By the time you can prepare for the IIT JAM. You have enough time to prepare well for your targeted exam. All the Best!! |
