Hi, I'm 15 years old and studying in a school affiliated to CBSE Board of Education. I recently appeared for my class 9th final exams. However, I failed in overall percentage. So, will I be promoted to class 10th or do I need to repeat class 9th?

No, not at all.

You will not be promoted to 10th standard after getting failed in ninth standard. You will have to pass ninth standard in order to get promoted to 10th standard.

It is prerequisite to get promoted to 10th standard and to appear for board exam.

You cannot be promoted to class 10 if you have failed in standard 9 final exam but you can appear as a private candidate if you do not want to waste a year

I am extremely sorry to inform you that you can not be promoted to class 10th after failing in 9th in the overall subjects.
Moreover different state boards have different rules. For example in Gujarat,you are promoted till 10th.
But as you are in CBSE, it is impossible to promote.

You can appear privately for the exam.

Dear aspirant, I am sorry to say this but you cannot get promoted in class 10th if you are fail in class 9th. It is not possible to get admission in other school in class 10th without passing 9th Class.
You can talk to your principle for taking exam of 9th again. If principal doesn't give you chance then continue with 9th without thinking.
