As you are in 3rd year of B.Tech, you have plenty of time in your hands to prepare for the Exam. Join in a good coaching institute for GATE Exam and try to spend 3 hours of time in a day towards GATE preparation.

Concentrate on prevous year question papers and practice as many number of model papers as possible.

For Gate,the candidate should have a graduate degree in engineering/technology/architecture from any recognized university.
