Re: Procedure to apply for IAS exam?
To apply for the Indian Administrative Service (IAS) exam, you need to follow a specific procedure. Here are the general steps involved:
Eligibility Criteria: Ensure that you meet the eligibility criteria set by the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC), which conducts the IAS exam. The basic eligibility requirements include nationality, age limits, educational qualifications, and number of attempts. Check the official UPSC website or the exam notification for the detailed eligibility criteria. Online Registration: Visit the official UPSC website (www.upsc.gov.in) and look for the Civil Services Examination (IAS exam) notification. The notification is usually released in February each year. Register yourself by filling out the online application form. Application Form: Complete the application form with accurate personal, educational, and other required details. Select the examination center of your choice from the available options. Pay the application fee through online or offline modes as specified in the notification. Upload Documents: Upload scanned copies of your photograph and signature in the specified format and size as mentioned in the application form guidelines. Selection of Optional Subjects: Choose your optional subjects for the exam. You need to select one subject for the preliminary exam and two subjects for the main exam. Refer to the UPSC notification for the list of optional subjects available. Submit the Application: Review the filled-in application form, verify the details, and submit the application form online. Take a printout of the application form and keep it for future reference. Admit Card: Once the application process is completed, the UPSC will release the admit cards for the preliminary examination. Download and print the admit card from the UPSC website when it becomes available. Examination: Prepare for the IAS examination according to the prescribed syllabus and exam pattern. The IAS exam is conducted in three stages: the Preliminary Examination (objective type), the Main Examination (descriptive type), and the Personality Test (Interview). Result and Further Process: After each stage of the examination, the UPSC will release the results on their official website. If you qualify for the next stage, follow the instructions provided by the UPSC for the further process, including document verification and the interview. |
