Tezpur University introduced the two-year M.A programme and doctoral programme in sociology.

The course deals with advanced areas of sociology which include courses, among others, on advanced Sociological Theories, Social Demography, Industrial Sociology, Sociology of Development, Sociology of Northeast India, Sociology of Governance.

You must undertake 20 courses out of which four are Inter Disciplinary Courses to complete M.A in Sociology course.

The optional courses include Sociology of Medicine, Social Statistics, Fieldwork Practicum, Sociology of Culture and Mass Media, Criminology, Environmental Sociology, and Gender and Society.
