Its good that you decided what you want to be in your future. Just what you need to do right now is to have command on all your subjects and do equally good in each. I am saying so because for becoming an IAS officer you need to be an all rounder person and have command on each subject. The sylabus of this examn is so vast that you have to study each and every subjects and you cannot leave any one. so when your basics will be strong you can prepare well for exam in future. Best wishes! |

You can make yourself commanding in maths , reasoning, english, general awareness etc. Just go through the NCERT history and science books, refer to pratiyigita darpan and see the question pattern for last years. Decide the subject which you will opt in your exam |

Re: Starting IAS preparations from 10th class
Congratulations to all of you young kids for having sorted out your life goal.
... Its a really good thing to start early, you get time to chart out your plan and take steps to materialize them,In fact almost all the toppers of national level exam start around 9th. Now first of all you should should start with magazines like Chronicle, CSR, Yojna, Pratiyogita darpan etc. These are IAS focused publications and provide you with good articles IAS interviews, current affairs articles on preparation strategy, previous papers. Next you need to start practice writing :: you need to write essays try sending them to magazines to get them published, arite arguments counter arguments, critical anaalysis... .... letme make it simple just write 2 pages per day to start, if you get better go to 3-4 pages etc. you can also work on your optionals if you like. At the end:: Take is easy. |

Re: Starting IAS preparations from 10th class
It is too early to start preparation for IAS. The minimum eligibility for IAS is a graduation degree with a candidate.
So plenty of time is there in your hand. So what i suggest you is to get good grip on general knowledge by the time to appear for the IAS exam. For this go through News papers, news channels and magazines. In addition, be good enough in various aspects of Aptitude. From this academic year, the pattern of IAS will be as follows 1) CSAT - Civil Services Aptitude Test 2)Civil Services Main exam 3) Personal Interviews. Give first preference to your academic subjects and try to see that you will secure good percentage in that. |

Guys.
I appreciate your interest towards Civils but, There is no need of concentrating for preparation..right from the 10th class on the subjects of civils are not at all related to 10th class but you'll get the basics here all you need to do at this age is build more and more interest towards Civils by grabbing the General Knowledge Current Affairs International effects of India and more about country all history, geography ,economics, civics, science, and what not.. all you have to do is build as much as knowledge you can.. that's all i can say ..as of now in my state of words.. wishes ~aditya~ |

Re: Starting IAS preparations from 10th class
Start reading newspapers from now on on a regular basis. It would do more than what is actually required for your preparation from now on.Be aware of what is going on around the world and in your country as well to be updated and to be able to answer any types of questions you would expect in the qualifying examination.Well, there is a vast portion to b covered for the 4respective examination you are aspiring to appear in but for that , your basics should be quite strong and you should have a very good command over all your subjects. So start preparing from now.Wish you the best of Luck !
