First of all you will have to give a preliminary exam which is the qualifying exam for the Mains
The Main exam includes a written test and an interview.

The preliminary exam consists of two Objective type . The time allotted for each paper will be 2 hours.
Paper one will be of General Studies of 150 marks. It is compulsory paper.

Paper 2 is of the optional subject as chosen by the candidate. This paper will be of 300 marks.

Paper 1 has 150 questions of 1 mark each and paper 2 has 120 questions of 2.5 marks each.

All the papers will be set both in Hindi and English (the Engineering subject paper will be set in English only)

For Main exam a candidate must secure a minimum of 40% marks in each paper of preliminary exam (30% for SC/ST and OBC candidates). The rest depends on the number of vacancies.

Main exam

The written exam consists of 7 papers. The time allotted for each paper will be 3 hours. Each paper will be of 300 marks.

Paper 1 and Paper 2 will be of General studies and Paper 3 will be of Hindi. You will be asked to choose 2 optional subjects. For each subject 2 papers will be conducted i.e. paper 4,5,6,7.

THese will not be objective type papers. These will be long answer type paper.

You will have to secure 33% marks in each paper (23% in case of SC/ST/OBC candidates)

All the papers will be set both in Hindi and English except the language papers (the Engineering subject paper will be set in English only)

After that an interview of 250 marks will be conducted
