Hi friend,
SC/ST or OBC are the reserved categories recognised by Governement of India. Solely SC and ST consist of 24% of population of India(Census 2001). Schedule Cast: This cast is also known as 'Dalit'. It occupies 16% of total population. And around 50 casts are included in SC. Schedule Tribe: It consists of tribal community and occupies 8% of total population. Around 645 casts are there in ST. Other Backward Caste: OBC They are almost 52% of indian population. And accrding to Mandal commission over 3000 castes are in this category. Reservations in India: ![]() |
